Quote of the Season
"Like his companion, he steadies himself with the salt on his tongue, the sharp-sour smell of the sea like a fresh-split oyster. The beach, for him, is like an intersection between dreams and reality: endless, lulling, pungent and terribly dangerous. Realer than anything, and a mystery he will never solve. It is the only un-knowing he has learned to be comfortable with." From This Grand Show is eternal

Tirzah was birthed from each corner of spring, a long-legged, gently curved wraith who is at her most powerful under the breeze and sun. Built like the classic Akhal-Teke, she stands on slender limbs and narrow, delicate hooves painted in white and gold. Chunks of silky silver-white hair wind their way into delicate half-curves, her mane and tail an odd mixture of some curly and some straight strands, although always dense, well-kept and shiny.

Her coat is equally as immaculate, though much wilder in nature: an exotic mix of yellows and blues that melds to overtake her whole body, except for a bald white face and irregular white markings on both front legs, the left stripe reaching to her elbow, the right only to her knee. The top quarter of her body - from ears down her neck all the way to the hocks of her back legs - is a bright, almost turquoise blue, which, at the level of her shoulder, fades into a saturated, buttery, golden palomino, which covers the rest of her skin.

Tirzah’s eyes shine stark against the white of her face, an intense blue that matches the deepest points of color across her back. Only a few accessories mar the general “simplicity” of Tirzah’s design. A single red feather dangles from an iron hoop pierced into her ear; a delicate, tarnished silver chain lined with identical small feathers is treated between two points on her nape, buried deep within her hair; and two small anklets, with a few of the same feathers, rest on her right front and left back legs. These are ornaments collected from her time in the jungle, which is dear to her heat, and the only jewelry she has deemed worthy of laying on her body.

When in a positive mood, which is almost always, Tirzah is a true blessing to be around - sparklingly upbeat, empathetic and genuinely interested in other people, with an amazing capacity to become instant friends with people that would often be passed off on first sight. She always makes an honest effort to not judge strangers on first sight and believes that everyone has good inside of them. She loves to meet new people and can often be found wandering to places she’s never been in order to find good company.

For all her good qualities, Tirzah is often taken advantage of; her overabundance of empathy leads her to give too many second chances, and she is too much of a follower, making her extremely susceptible to involvement in cults, crimes, or anything, really, if the leader of the group is charismatic enough. She can be ditzy and empty-headed, almost completely lacking the rational area of her brain. She’s very stubborn and easily set in opinions or decisions, even if they were made too quickly. Religious to the point of fanaticism, Tirzah firmly believes that she can speak directly to Vespera and all other gods, and will push for extreme measures to please them, including live sacrifice and war waged on other courts. She has spent much of her life worshipping and learning how to best serve the gods, and this has left her with a hole where much of her childhood experiences should have been, so that Tirzah is, in many ways, still immature despite her best efforts.

In conjunction with this religious fanaticism comes an incredibly strong, stiff moral code that Tirzah always follows, though it consists of one phrase only - her people come first. Whether family, friends, or her Court, Tirzah will do anything and everything for those close to her, from offering emotional support to starting arguments on their behalf to straight-up sabotaging anyone she believes to have harmed “her people”. Tirzah believes it is her duty to her best by everyone she meets, and she attempts to follow through on this, but her loyalties can be vastly skewed, and she is still a light-hearted, cloudy-brained kid with much less experience of the world than she believes she has.

Since childhood Tirzah has revered only two people - Vespera, and her own mother. Growing up in the far reaches of the Dusk Court, slinking around the edges of the cliffs in order to avoid being “controlled” by the sovereign, Tirzah grew up around only her mother and the strangers they would converse with every so often, turning her into something of a social pariah. Time and time again Tirzah would ask her mother why they could not join the Court, and never was she able to get an answer beyond “it isn’t safe”. As much as Tirzah loved her mother, the woman was… eccentric. Strong willed and sympathetic, she taught Tirzah as much about the world as she could, yet in many areas curbed her dreams of exploration for reasons the young girl was never able to discern.

As a child, Tirzah took lessons in medicine, war and the lore of the gods, she grew to have a love of learning that was only rivaled by her love of nurturing, so that at a young age she was convinced that Vespera would want her to be a caretaker. With no herd responsibilities and no one but her mother to be preoccupied with, Tirzah could spend hours upon hours collecting herbs and doing research. Her only respite came from her mother’s nightly stories. Often these were dreamy recollections of Tirzah’s father - a dark, handsome man from the Dawn Court wise beyond his years, who Tirzah was never fortunate enough to meet - and, her mother being the strange, secretive creature that she was, for her whole life Tirzah has felt that she’s missing a part of her identity, or at least her history.

Part of this must have been why Tirzah, at a little past two years old, had felt such an intense longing to leave her homeland. With no real friends or family besides her mother, and so well-trained in medicine now that there was nothing for any Novus native to teach her, Tirzah - with blessings but hardly prepared - set off in search of a land called Raanan, rumored to hold more curative secrets than any other corner of the earth.

After weeks and weeks of traveling, Tirzah found the entrance to Raanan and fell headfirst into a world that she could not ever have imagined herself. Here the bushes grew to tens of feet and trees swung heavy with neon-colored fruit; rivers ran with vibrant pink water, and plants and animals Tirzah had never even heard off grew abundantly from the deep earth. Tirzah spent a year under the tutelage of Raanan’s finest shaman; he gifted her her feather ornaments, and a dip in Raanan’s magical water is what gave Tirzah’s previously perfect yellow coat the bright blue patch that swirls over it now. When the time came to leave Tirzah was not only more confident and more knowledgable, but her spirituality had been reinvigorated, making Tirzah a zealot. Her mother remains a wild card slinking throughout Novus, but Tirzah is determined to rejoin the Dusk Court and offer her services fully to Vespera.
