pumpkin spice and everything nice [festival] - Evangeline - 10-22-2017

The trip to Dawn Court was full of nostalgia for Evangeline. Traveling through the Viride Forest was bittersweet, but the orange mare felt a sense of peace and comfort beneath the canopy. It reminded her of the Mystic Woodlands. Of home. She had taken her time as she meandered through the forest, pausing every now and again to inspect certain plants, or to listen to the rustle of the wind through the trees. She traveled slowly, but eventually she made her way to the Dawn Court's citadel, where the festivities were being held.

Evangeline had been hesitant about leaving the relative comfort and safety of the Dusk Court to travel to Dawn Court for the festival. The Aurora Basin had held similar events in Helovia and she had never gone to them. So why now? Why would she go to this festival in a land that she didn't know anything about? Why did she even care about what the Dawn Court celebrated?

Those were the questions the asked herself over and over again as she stood by herself observing. There were so many different activities going on that she didn't even know where to start. Everyone was so loud and cheerful that she didn't know what to make of it. She didn't know how to insert herself into any of the activities without looking like an awkward, clueless, outsider. Instead she stood beneath a tree, an awkward, clueless, outsider.

RE: pumpkin spice and everything nice [festival] - Somnus - 10-24-2017

Somnus

Since the beginnings of the Festival, Somnus was busy. With Kasil temporarily gone from their borders, he did all that he could to ensure that everything went on without trouble or incident. There were members of every Court here; Dusk, Day, and Night, and while he had trepidation in his breast in regards to a few visiting members, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. That, in itself, was a grand reprieve.

Still, Somnus was not one to let opportunity slip him by. He darted in and out of groups, dancing around the Citadel courtyard, checking on everyone he encountered and asking, time and again, if there was anything that anybody needed. He was in his element here; busy with tasks, useful, his purpose once more reinstated. Even if he was simply an errand boy, fetching things for anyone who may need them or answering questions if any arose, he did so with remarkable elegance, poise, and pride. His mind relished in the quick action, thriving in a bustling atmosphere that reminded him of rushing through the hallways of Vhallens's palace, not wishing to be late for meetings with his King or other delegates.

It was as he was making his rounds that the tactician's sharp verdant eyes found a rich sorrel mare with a flaxen mane and tail standing beneath a tree, the remarkable shade of her pelt matching the altering, changing colors of the very tree she stood beneath. She seemed quite lost, this maiden, as though she was uncertain really how to proceed, and so always the gentleman and hoping to welcome her to the festival himself, Somnus approached. He halted a good distance away, however, and dipped his head to her in greeting.

"Greetings, miss," he began, the melodic lilt of his accent warm and welcoming, dark lips turned upwards in a genuine smile that he hoped would put her at ease, "Welcome to Delumine and the Dawn Court, and be welcome to the Harvest Festival. Have you come to partake in our activities? My name is Somnus, Sage of the Dawn Court proper. I would be honored to show you around, or answer any inquiries you might have."
