Upon her many strolls along the lake, she came across mint. Bunches of mint that she happily gathered and tied by string, tossing the long strand (tied on either end with the herbs) against her back. In time they would dry, and she could preserve them better. They made for a nice and humble tea, soothing. In her homeland, they rarely came across the stuff. Since it preferred the wetlands, marshes and lakes. There were only a few that she recalled from her past. But like any watering hole, any body of water attracted all sorts of folk and beast. It was rarely calm, and fraught with danger.

She waded in the water along the shore. Two strands dangled from her back, having spent most of the day moving in and out of the water. Grabbing mouthfuls near the earth. It grew like weeds, these things; she felt no need to impart a cautious stance – confident that they would grow once more into batches, upon batches of mint in the next spring. With the sun to her back, the work was pleasant. It was simple, meager work; not especially challenging or physically draining.

Vaella stopped to pause, clouds on the horizon appeared. Blotting the pleasant sun, graying the sky. And yet the forest surrounding the lake mesmerized her; its vibrant colors showered the shores with all sorts of greens and peachy oranges.

For now all seemed pleasant, content. The birds murmured from within the trees. Rodents and smaller creatures prepared for mating season. It wasn’t as stale as Vaella would have thought it would be. It was rather homely, this place and the beginnings of spring always comforted her.

Come to me in the night hours
I will wait for you

Having as little fondness for the sunlight now as he had before, Eidolon attempted to stay under the trees to avoid it. He found the shade so much more pleasant, and to think this was only spring. Admittedly, the foliage was gorgeous and full of life; incredibly pleasant to the eyes and nose. Even the birdsongs held whimsical notes that lead his mind to peaceful thoughts. Even making him forget his dislike of the sunlight every now and again. It was the sort of calm contemplation he originally thought could only be found in the darkest void. Both different types of those same feelings and valuable in their own way. Come to think of it, he had never really gotten the chance to enjoy nature like this before. And he found, if he stood or laid still enough, eventually the smaller creatures would wander closer. Was this how Jezanna felt back where the two of them came from? A wonderful feeling indeed.

Speaking of that woman, she had ventured off again: determined to be as far from him as possible. It irked him, but he would not go so far as to corner her. Let her explore this new world, see what it had to offer, think of it as home. Maybe then tensions would ease between them. In the meantime, he would do the same. This newfound freedom was a blessing he sorely appreciated. Limited and mortal as he was, never before had he felt so in tune with something greater. Honestly, he found so much excitement to be had in this new life.

Musings still wafting through his mind like clouds coming and going along the blue sky above, Eidolon almost did not notice the woman treading at the water’s edge of the lake. She appeared like he imagined a dragon might; scaled with horns and reptilian wings. A curious looking appearance but he was not one to talk. From what he had seen of others of his court, Eidolon was a bit of an oddity. Feeling particularly curious, he walked at a graceful stride towards her, calling out when he got near, “Would you like any assistance?” It appeared that she was gathering a specific herb.

V A E L L A

Vaella was enjoying the coolness of the water against her skin as she picked through the underwater plants. Humming a soft tune of a lullaby her mother had once sang to her when she had been nothing more than a child. It was a peaceful and happy tune, soft and elegant. She almost didn't notice or hear someone else's approach, but the soft footsteps reached her ears eventually. Lifting her head from her search, topaz hued eyes watching the male for a moment. He reminded her of what a night sky might look like in an equine form, beautiful and dark. Dark Prince, was the first impression she got from him as she turned slightly better so she was facing him more fully.

"Ah..yes if you wouldn't mind. I'm gathering mint, it has many uses for medicine..but I also like it in my drink." She admitted with a slight smile gracing her pale lips. A slight tilt of her head towards him she tried to recall if she had ever seen him before, there were so many new faces to meet within this court. It was a good thing it wasn't as vast as her homeland could be. "I am Vaella." She offered an introduction with another smile tugging at her lips.
