PULL ME CLOSER, KISS ME HARD
I'M GONNA POP YOUR BUBBLEGUM HEART

"HEY!"

A drink is sloshed from Bexley’s grip as someone goes whizzing by her, and she gasps incredulously as it goes careening onto the floor. "Hey, asshole -" but whoever bumped into her is already gone, swallowed by the huge crowd inside the citadel, and all she can do is frown and let it go, no matter how unlike her that is.

Besides, there’s more wine to be found. More of everything, really - more food, more music, more new bodies. Though the storm outside those sandstone walls is raging with incessant force, inside the Day Court’s buildings there’s nothing but festivity and socialization to be found, with swarms of people placing bets, holding loud conversations and dancing in ignorance of the howling wind outside. What else can they do to pass the time cooped up indoors? What are they supposed to do about anything that’s happened? If this is simply freak weather, it must pass eventually; if it’s the work of the gods, not a soul in Novus can change it.

Might as well party, as long as they’re alive.

Time for a new drink, then. Bexley squeezes herself smaller and goes slinking through the crowd as easily as she can, sidestepping here, leaping there, wriggling like a fish through the crush of bodies in an effort not to disturb the dancing  and (slightly off-key) singing of the partygoers around her. She can’t help smiling as she watches them - sheltered from the storm, more careless than ever - people after her own heart. Something in her is proud that she’s been able to take people’s minds off the blizzard; another part worries more than a little about how Seraphina will react, but, thankfully, that’s a worry for the future.

Reinvigorated, Bexley continues her path through the crowds.

open for any partygoers! <3

Pavetta had only visited Solterra once before and it was a very brief adventure. Nicking that nobleman's jewels on the road through the canyon wasn't exactly the wisest of decisions she'd ever made, to be sure. She had been a wild, unruly thing after arriving in Novus. Exploring, gambling, drinking (which leads to stealing a nobleman's jewels); truly tasting freedom for the first time. No Order to answer to, no husband to please.

Now? Now she felt age and duty taming the fire in her heart. She felt steadier, older...she made a sour face at the word she searched for--boring.

She couldn't be a woman-child forever, though. She knew that, knew her responsibility and duty to Delumine far outweighed her own selfish, childish tendencies. But it didn't keep her from dreaming of the nights under the stars in Denocte and meeting beautiful, mysterious strangers. No cares, no worries.

But that was before the gods returned and their games began.

The biting cold and the flurry of snow urged her to find shelter. The journey had been long and arduous--she had never seen such savage weather before. But it was her duty to know what was happening with the other courts. After ensuring the fires in Delumine were properly staffed and gathering her traveling things, a few guards escorted her and ensured she found the way to the capitol in the raging blizzard.

They hustled into one of the capitol taverns, the wind screeching and snow sweeping in around them as they shut the door. Pavetta left the guards with hot drinks and assured them she would return when she needed their services again.

Pavetta was about to scout out a hot drink for herself when she heard a familiar voice cutting through murmur of the crowd. "Asshole!" She smiled to herself. That could only be...

"Bexley!" she wove her way through the throng of bodies, grateful for the warmth of the room and the fireplace crackling merrily in the corner. A flash of gold and flaxen; unmistakable cornflower blue eyes and an intriguing scar. "Bexley," she said again, somewhat breathless as she greeted Day's Regent, nosing her gently on the shoulder. "I'm glad to see you haven't froze to death." Too soon? Maybe. "I never got the chance to buy you that drink I promised back on the peak. Can I make it up to you now?"

creature in whom nothing, but nothing, remains of an elven woman ---

@Bexley hope this is okay!

When she hears Pavetta’s voice over the cacophony of the crowd she thinks she might be imaging it. It’s the beer or the cold or the hunger, she thinks, that’s twisting someone else’s words into the Deluminian’s tone - she is only hearing what she wants to hear, searching for a friend in the densely-packed crowd of strangers, of people who hate her but respect her just enough not to kill her.

But when Bexley throws a glance over her shoulder she’s pleasantly surprised to find a pair of rose-quartz eyes looking back at her. A real grin crosses her face, all sharp edges and ivory, and she knocks shoulders with Pavetta in an easy, amicable greeting, a hot buzz of something like excitement moving through the map of her nerves in an instantaneous reaction.  Pavetta! she answers happily. Absolutely. Let’s go -

Maybe it’s the drunkenness or the warmth of the fire crackling behind them or the dim, hot atmosphere of so many people in the same room, the way such a big party gives her so much anonymity, but Bexley thinks nothing of tugging on a lock of Pavetta’s hair with her teeth and pulling her closer, so that they are stumbling shoulder-to-shoulder in the crowd. How’d you make it out here, anyway?

The words are slurred a little, just enough to make sense combined with the drawling smile that flashes her teeth in a white sickle. Whatever, she thinks. We’re gonna die anyway -
