Breaking the habit - Lyra - 10-03-2017
When the first breath of winter through the flowers is icing
And you look to the north and a pale moon is rising Twilight had to be her absolute favorite time of day, when the sky was lit with the gorgeous combinations of reds fading through pink and orange to yellows, and purples mixing with the blues. It was always a magical thing to observe, but even more so when surrounded by a breathtaking meadow as she was now. Sprawled out rather unceremoniously in a secluded area of the lake's shores was a midnight blue hued mare, staring longingly up into the stars that were slowly beginning to speckle the sky above. Lyra had few precious memories left, but she remembered her home, she remembered the war, and she remembered her brother. At some point in her life however she'd begun to start losing hope that he was still alive, somewhere out there.
There'd been no real signs of him anywhere she'd looked, so it was hard to keep focused on trying to find him when it felt so helpless. It didn't stop her from stargazing though, and whenever she did, she was completely zoned out, focused solely on the sky. Though, this particular evening, the smell of the water that surrounded her was rather distracting, relaxing even, she it took all of her will to not doze off. Taking a deep breath of the aroma, Lyra stretched out and gave a quick couple of rolls, letting it soak into her skin as she did so. If she were truly honest with herself though, which she usually was - just not to others, she was lonely, and had been for far too long. She'd never bothered to make any friends in the places she'd been before, mostly because she always found herself in dangerous situations and friends were just liabilities, so it was simply easier to just not make them in the first place. RE: Breaking the habit - Ammon - 10-18-2017 sometimes all you have are your lies
Twilight. it was the prime element for the dark stag in ways both poetic and practical; practical, for his coat was too true-dark to blend well with the night shadows, as surprising as it was, and it was poetic in that the world became as grey as himself, a synchronization that never failed to settle the nerves of the raven. It was the critical point balancing night and day perfectly, when things that dwelt in the dark clashed with those that roamed in the light. It was the passing of the torch from one celestial entity to another, and the world paid it heed. It was also the most dangerous time of the day for the unwary. One never knew what watched from the dawning shadows. Old habits died hard, and they died hardest in the raven as he watched a blue mare with a mane of night sky roll in the autumn nightblooms, their fragrance released most beautifully as she crushed them beneath her bulk. So easily she destroyed things of beauty, he had to question whether she even gave thought to what she had done... but ah, he knew better. Most did not reflect on things as he did, he would be honestly surprised if she had truly given it consideration. He remained a statue in the shadows, shrouded in darkness and shielded by the foliage, watching from but a short distance away. He knew not why he felt the urge to approach, perhaps it was to solidify himself as 'Vasher' within this Court, perhaps it was loneliness, perhaps it was boredom, or perhaps (and most likely) it was none of the above. Finally, he shifted, stepping forward and purposefully placing his hoof upon a small twig to break the silence and announce his arrival as he approached, crowned skull bowing in acknowledgement. "A beautiful evening, be it not?" His words rolled lyrical and empty from his dark lips, his face very well carved of onyx for all the emotion it showed. It truly was a beautiful transition to night; in truth it was why he had left the walls of the Night Court, to breathe in the star-filled sky and wallow in the grief in his heart... but it seemed fate would not let the raven mourn just yet. "Mine name be Vasher, newly joined unto the Night Court." He bowed elegantly, a foreleg extended and the other curled to his breast, and when he rose he moved fully to stand at her side, an ear cocked towards her, his roman-carved head slightly turned towards her. "Might I inquire as to thine name?" AMMON APOTHESIS

And you look to the north and a pale moon is rising Lyra as soon as she heard the twig snapping had froze mid roll, quick to scramble back onto her feet. She hadn't expected anyone to be around, most would either be in the city already resting or..partying as was common here in Denocte. Glancing over towards the stranger now that her heart wasn't about to burst from her chest, she tried to look a bit more..calm. "Ah..yes it is beautiful." She agreed after a moment as she gazed up towards the night sky and the stars that had already begun to show. She loved the night and it wasn't for some vain reason like how she matched the night sky. It was because whenever she had been alone or..upset, the moon and stars had been her companions. They never left her.
Her ears twitched a bit as the male introduced himself, her silver gaze looking at him once more. A bit shy as he came to stand beside her but she managed a small smile all the same. "It's a pleasure to meet you Vasher..I am Lyra, Champion of Community." The title still felt odd on her tongue no matter how long it has been since she was given the rank of Champion. She didn't think she'd ever get used to the huge responsibility or understand why she had been chosen. "Speak" @Ammon
