through all the twisting shadows - Random Events - 02-13-2019 a lingering, unnerving songNight had fallen, and the skies were clear to show off a stunning display of dancing stars in the inky black heavens. A mottled shadow marred the skies, beady black eyes peering and searching the populace of Denocte for a familiar figure of pale gold cloaked in a mantle of ivories and creams. There. Upon finding their quarry, the winged creature circled around to land with outstretched wings, screeching out a warning before reaching out with wide talons to take roost upon Toulouse’s horn. Attached to their left leg with criss-crossing leather straps was a scroll, vague in wording but heavy with its weight. It would be delivered to none but him. ’A specter lurks within and we are wary. Your services are needed here. Bring what information you have.’ The note was not signed and the penmanship was sketchy at best, but clearly the individual responsible had faith that Toulouse would understand. For @Toulouse RE: through all the twisting shadows - Toulouse - 02-18-2019 there are many paths to tread She came in the night, upon papery wings and a hushed breeze. He watched as she flew, wings tilted just so until her flight arced in circles around him. A normal man might have been surprised, even fearful of the sudden appearance, of the way she wheeled around him like he was a mouse she wished to eat. But he was no mouse, and he recognized her mottled shadow. Her weight settled upon one of his twisted horns, her screech echoing away into the night. Toulouse murmured a soft greeting, his voice low, before reaching up to untie the small scroll she carried with his telekinesis. Beneath the light of the full moon and with a million stars as witness, he read. A specter lurks within and we are wary. Your services are needed here. Bring what information you have. It would seem his time here in Denocte was at a temporary end. Toulouse tucked the note within a fold of his scarves - to be destroyed at a later date, but for now it was vague enough to be safe on his person - and bid the messenger goodbye. He watched her fly away into the night, disappearing back the way she had come. It took only a few beats of her wings before she was gone, swallowed by the inky blackness. And like the specter the note had described, he too, disappeared from Denocte as quietly as he had arrived. |
