Moments passed her by in a restless search to find that which is hidden, pushing the goddess-blessed girl left and right, letting light glint off golden horns and a huff come unbidden from pale lips. That which holds secrets of the afterlife, or those who fall and then rise, cannot stay buried forever.
The empty grave is proof of that.
And Juniper wonders how many others already reached this point and continued on. In a rare moment of frustration the priestess kicks a rock, wishing for it to fly away as her heart does - soaring high in the sky where she cannot be found. A mystery. A cloud floating on the breeze. Something beautiful and ephemeral and completely her own.
In a fit of luck, there is a dark mark on a pale stone that skitters underfoot. It flies away as she longed to do but moments ago, but once more she’s a bloodhound on the scent.
Quickly! Quickly she darts forward.
Emerald eyes hungrily devour the sigil upon the rock, painting it in the dirt beneath her feet until it is burned into the annals of memory so that should she see it again she would know - and Juniper always remembers that which happens. She may float on the wind like a dandelion, high and free and going wherever her deity pleases, but she remembers all. She continues on, leaning closer, peering harder at the words until they are like her name: a part of her very being. "It divides the sea and city” she repeats.
Juliet is a mystery, such stories untold in her temples, but the sea and the city have only a few that dare to separate them.
Like a bolt of lightning, Juniper launches from the ground and into the sky. She is a stream of endless white and grey within the sky, a storm moving over the lands with no sign of stopping.
To the cliffs ! To the cliffs she goes with hope in her heart beating loud and full of hope. There is no room for doubt, not when she is so sure of herself. So when dark hooves smack against cliffside stone again, when there is the endless sea in all its frightening glory, causing muscles to tense and spine to shiver, fear creeping along the edges of all that is Unknown, she cannot help the triumphant snort that bursts from flared nares.
"It’s here - now where is the next? Dawn breaks upon these cliffs, it keeps the city from the sea. It must be here,” she bites her lip, brow furrowing at last, and determines to wait for the light to set and rise once more if that is what needs be done.

The ocean roars and spits up foam as if in protest of the people who have flocked to its shores. The sand is dark and wet, and the wind is awfully loud, roaring forward like a lion. Those who are brave enough to follow the narrow, winding path that leads down to the beach from the edges of the bluffs, its steps cut awkwardly into the rock, will be among the lucky few to find the next clue.
There are many caves carved into the side of the cliffs. Some have been etched out by hands and tools, others by the beating of the waves and the song of the wind. Some are wide and shallow, some narrow and deep, but one in particular stands out for its crushingly narrow though obviously man-made entrance. If you squeeze inside, you’ll find that after a few meters it opens up into...
A prison.
The dust and ash on the floor has been recently disturbed by two sets of hoofprints, leading out of the cave. Otherwise it lacks any sign of life. The air is stale and the bars of the cells have dwindled to the thinnest of pillars after years of erosion.
Written in some dark liquid on the inside of the last cell at the back of the cave is another message.
One great eye gazes out from the ocean. Laid to waste by that which eats but has no mouth, Always hungry, fed by those black of heart. Roman greensward west by south.
