◭ of spacious skies - Karrin - 12-05-2019 ●|● RE: ◭ of spacious skies - Caelum - 12-08-2019 Caelum i've had just enough time" Frigid, icy air. It was the first thing that Caelum seemed to note as she stood on the edge of the bridge that seperated this odd island from the rest of the Island of Novus. She knew little about it - she hadn't reached Novus at the time of the first rising of the island fro the waters, but she had heard word that it's renewal was something of a winter delight. And while Caelum couldn't imagine anything delightful about winter (it was freezing cold after all and she was much to tiny and light and lacking the natural body fat to keep her aided and warm in the winter) she couldn't help but want to see what the island was hiding that made it a whispered happy secret. And so, as the mare stood at the edge of the bridge that seemed to connect to theisland, her wings fluttered to keep the snow that fell from sticking to them too much. Dancing snowflakes. They salted her blue hued body, collecting upon her back and shoulders as she stood still for a moment. The small particles of frozen water collected in her mane and tail, although they blended to the naturally white threads rather than stand out like they did to her pelt even if they added a touch of shine as they melted. Caelum wasn't amused by the effect as her pelt twitched to shake the snowflakes free, trying to suppress the desire to shiver against the cold. It was freezing, it was cold, she did not appreciate it even a little bit. Her chocolate eyes stared ahead as she tried to judge if it was worth walking the bridge, or if it would prove to slick for hooves that had really never touched ice before (she did come from a place of near perpetual summer after all), before steeling herself and choose the more natural reaction for her unique physique. She'd fly the distance. She took a few steps, her wings fluttering a little more with each step - a little faster. And after the fourth step, she jumped forward, her wings slashing down hard as she propelled herself up. Three more rapid flaps of the dainty, filmed wings and she was above the bridge, her legs folded close to her belly, and her mane and tail billowing on the breeze. A faint sparkling fluttered off her wings as the fairy dust was shook free with each flutter - leaving a faint trail in her wake that blended into the falling snow around her. The flight was quick enough on her own, but her landing was a bit of a joke as the sudden deep snow startled her into almost falling face forward. Not very dignified. She quickly gathered her balance and shook her forelock from her face as she let out a soft huff and started to plow her way through the thick snow, biting back the chattering her teeth wanted to create at the feeling of snow encasing around her limbs. The snow was up past her knees - how was this a delight? And then . . . she saw something. Her eyes widened at a small ball of light that fluttered around, and Caelum stood still, watching the familiar movement, having seen it before. For a moment liquid gathered in the corner of her eyes before she blinked it back. She knew those kinds of aerodynamics - she was trained in them herself. When her kingdom had been thriving, they were utilized by all with in it. Her breath caught in her throat and she moved forward, could it be? Could it really be? Where they truly fae? She started forward before she suddenly noticed someone else, another near by, having stepped out before she had crossed the bridge as well. The other seemed confused, standing in the snow, and Caelum felt her curiosity spike. She glanced at the snow and struggled a few steps through it, straining to drag her too-delicate and thin limbs through the gathered pile of ice and frozen flakes. A fairy seemed to notice, flying down and around the blue-roaned mare in as if laughing at her attempts. Caelum's eyes half narrowed even as a playful smile touched her face, "Don't get smart with me little one." Her wings snapped out, causing the fairy to jump back in surprise, the bright light it was made up of seeming to flash in excitement, drawing others near. They swirled around her wings as if shocked and delighted in equal measures and Caelum grinned, her own inner fae shining through in the mischievous look that warmed her chocolate eyes to caramel,"I'm just as attracted to troublemaking as any other fairy worth their wings." The fae flew around her again, lights twinkling as if laughing at her words, and spurred by their antics, Caelum took to the air, as a majority of the fae flew off to play with the snowflakes, a few hung close to observe the fairy-horse. She landed shortly after. Much closer to the other this time, Caelum didn't feel the need to push through the snow, instead allowing her voice to carry between them, "Hello, you look a little lost? To be honest, I am too, it's my first time on the Island, but the little balls of light seem amusing enough." She greeted, even as a few of the 'balls of light' seemed to flicker in offense to the dismissal of their majesty. Fae could be so self-centered and primadonas. Caelum grinned easily, "My name is Caelum Bella Knoxx, but please feel free to call me Caelum or any derivative of it." She introduced herself as a breeze blew her forelock further out of her eyes. She was hoping for some good company to help temper the cold. The fairies were helping too. "Speech" Thoughts @Karrin |
