!! Monster - Kindred - 12-12-2019 How long had it been? Too long… the breeze sang in her ear, chilling her to the bone. She had just been allowed to join the Dawn Court before she had been pulled from its grasps in an attempt to save a few stragglers from her clan. The same clan she had run from, that had wanted her dead, she had gone back to help. Yes. She was an idiot. She could acknowledge that now, with the exhaustion in her bones and streaks of mud across her pelt. Kindred needed to rest. She needed to ease the aching in her joints and the pressure along her spine. She needed her mind to stop telling her to clean the dirt out of her hair and along her limbs. Yes, she desperately craved the feeling of her silky pelt but even more so she longed to allow her eyes to close and her mind to stop its constant ticks of worry. Kindred trembled as she drug her body into the court’s center. Muscles twitching, aching, beginning to tear at the confines of her mind. Anxiety creeping in as she hears the bustling of the court. Bad idea, bad idea, BAD idea- it screams at her, images of monsters jumping out from the darker corners flashing across her vision as her mind collapses in on itself. She desperately lowers her head, hooves being pressed deeper into the earth than necessary in an attempt to ground herself. One. Two. Three. It was wrong. All wrong without Wren near her. Wrong. Four. Five. Six. Could she even keep doing this? Seven. Eight. Nine. Her breaths were shallow and her whole bodice was almost trembling in place. Ten. Eleven. Twelve. Her muzzle presses against the necklace she wore, and the whole world seems to go mute even though all of the hustle and bustle is still occurring. Carefully, she pulls herself off to the side, eyes trained on torch before her. Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen. The world would come back. The world had to come back. She just needed to calm herself first. Lord, how she wished Wren was back.Wren had been able to stop these before they started – keep her safe during them…. No… She can’t be alone… |
