FLORENTINE

always one decision away from a totally different life
-- ♕ --

The path to the fields are wooded and wild. Trees arch overhead, their boughs growing thin, their leaves carpeting the forest floor. Each step is a tune of rustling leaves, their air is damp with afternoon rain – but it is long now past. The clouds have cleared and the pieces of sky seen through the thinning umbrella of boughs is crystal blue and hazy with the late hour.

The forest gathers around the track, pushing in and narrowing it down until only one horse can pass at a time. Ahead is a small window of foliage that opens out into the fields.

Dusk has turned the blue sky gold and then to red as it halos the setting sun. The light shines low, setting amber leaves to glow like embers and red leaves to gleam like rubies. Everything here in the fields is painted in shades of gold and red. Everything is readying itself for winter.

As the sun sets, the cool begins to set in and great fires are dotted around to warm those who wish to gather here. Assorted drinks and foodstuffs are spattered around the meadow, the swaying grasses the only song until a band come with instruments and voices.

All is set for the Twilight Party, an event only for Terrastellans. Their numbers had grown, booming brilliantly, but with it were so many faces the Dusk Sovereign did not know. So she stands, near a fire, its light turning her mane to liquid gold as it cascades down her neck. She waits for them all to gather, for their evening’s party to begin

-------------------------

Okay my loves, this is a meet and greet do. We have had so many wonderful chars join our Dusk ranks and I want this to be their opportunity to meet other members and get involved – make plots and have fun.

So, you can reply to this thread if you wish to speak to Florentine or begin your own threads to talk to others. Old members, I ask that you write with a new char and that everyone speaks with someone their char has NOT met before. If you start group threads, by all means have someone your char already knows in it, but make sure there are also 1 or 2 they DON’T know.

It will only be only a short lived event, taking place only on one IC night. I do not want to get over ambitious with something like this when we do not know what the SWP will ask of us activity wise. So you have until end of play on the 11th June to get your posts up! Tag them with the title ‘Twilight Party’ so people know which threads are part of this. Go and have fun my lovelies <3 <3

QUINN - son of Entia and Naveen
And life was like a comet falling from the sky

He was here. Quinn enjoyed a good party, though it had been quite a while since the last one. That and he didn’t know anyone here really, and it would make it more awkward for him. Still, he’d come because this was a good chance to gain some ground with others, and maybe even see what there was here he could do. He was just a follower, he had no idea what he actually wanted to do. He enjoyed his fighting but he wasn’t particularly strong, and he was often too brash to be one who would ever been political. That involved some kind of decorum.

Quinn knew was he was the opposite of decorum.

He was indecent. Maybe not the right word, but good enough. He had a tendency to run his tongue and not think about what he was saying. Before he knew it, he’d said something he’d regret. Maybe a little. Or not at all, depending.

In the dark of the dusk, with firelight dancing all around and casting long shadows behind the figures, Quinn made his way across the earth. He walked to the fire to gain some warmth to his bones, but he did find himself nearby his the sovereign of the Dusk court. He could not help but admire her and all her fine lines, truly she was beautiful.

Like the final rays of sunlight at the end of a day. Seemed fitting to the court of the Dusk, he thought.

“Um…” he recovered, trying to make it seem like hadn’t been staring. “Hello. You must be Florentine, yes? I’m Quinn,” he introduces himself quickly, not dancing around the subject any more than he needed to.

No point in that after all.

ARD

When news of the little ’meet and greet’ had reached their ears, Ard’s reaction to his brother’s pleading expression had been a vehement, scalding ’no!’ filled with as much vitriol and warning as he could muster. No. No. Fuck no. He did not want to go out and meet those who called Terrastella home. He did not want to go out and be forced to mingle with the crowds, where he would shuffle and shift and shrink into Erd’s charismatic presence. He wanted to stay in the small room he shared with his brother and hide away from the world, not include himself in it, and spare himself the judgement that all of the strangers would carry in their cold eyes.

His vehement, passionate ’no!’, of course, had been swayed into a furious ’fine, damnit’ when Erd would not give up his annoying, desperate pleading.

”It’ll be good for us to get out and meet everyone! Come on, Ard, it won’t be that bad. Like it or not, this is our home now. We should introduce ourselves. I bet they aren’t as bad as you think they are.” Oh, but Ard had held his ground rather stubbornly for most of the day, pinning his ears and baring his teeth whenever Erd would even bring it up. In the end, however, he had been undone by his twin’s soft, pitiful beckon of, ”Please, Ard? I don’t want to go alone.”

And so, that was how the younger warlock found himself shuffling after Erd along a familiar path towards the meadow that they had ended up in when they first arrived in Novus. He still wasn’t happy, but… Damnit, Erd was clearly so excited to meet the others of the Court that Ard couldn’t begrudge him, his brother’s pace accompanied with a little hop with every step he took. It was endearing and adorable, and despite not wanting to participate, Ard was glad he had agreed if only to see his beloved twin so happy.

The path that they had been following cleared into an open area dotted with warm fires to chase off the evening chill, and before they knew it, they had arrived. Others mingled and talked quietly among themselves, strangers meeting strangers, friends meeting friends. It was the type of event that Ard hated, but… Here he was.

Giving an unsteady exhale, Ard bumped his muzzle into Erd’s flank and sucked in a deep breath of his brother’s scent. He could do this. He could. He just had to believe in himself, right? Following after his brother, they arrived at a warm fire where a golden lady stood illuminated by the flickering flames. Instinctively, Ard was drawn to the warmth of the fire, but he remained rooted at his twin’s side. Another young male, rich tones of earth and speckled with mottled ivories, already stood in conversation with the golden woman with the kind violet eyes, and the warlock was able to catch their names; Florentine and Quinn.

Even as Erd found a moment to introduce them, Ard simply held his silence. He was not yet comfortable to speak.

ERD

Oh, Erd knew that his brother wasn’t happy with him for practically forcing him to attend Dusk Court’s fun little meeting, but he had really wanted to go. The few citizens of Terrastella that he had met so far hadn’t seemed all that bad. Yeah, Marisol was a little rough around the edges and Atreus was kind of creepy, but they weren’t bad. In the end, Ard had caved, and the two brothers had made their way along the pathway and through the trees to the assigned meeting place.

Upon their arrival, the elder warlock simply took a moment to inhale the familiar scent of fire. The bonfires that crackled merrily throughout the clearing beckoned him, but Erd knew that he nor his twin could manipulate the flames into fun shapes or mythical beings like they had once done in Luminous. At the feeling of velvet pressed against his flank, turquoise eyes glanced back and he met Ard’s wary gaze with a warm, reassuring smile. This was hard on his brother, he knew, but Erd was so very proud of him.

From there, he guided his twin along, their petite frames positively dwarfed by the gathered citizens of Terrastella. He wondered, briefly, if they were the shortest members of the Court. More than likely, from the towering frames standing sporadically throughout the clearing, or at least they hadn’t met anyone shorter than themselves yet.

Arriving at a crackling fire where two had already gathered, the silver warlock took a moment to examine them both. The pale, golden lady with tresses covered with lilac blossoms seemed kind and kindred, and Erd immediately liked the warm look upon her pretty face. It caused him to smile and shift happily, and immediately he felt compelled to speak to her. Of course, that would be rude, as she was clearly in discussion with a male of earthen browns and striking whites. Straightening up to his full height, which really wasn’t much, Erd’s warm smile remained as he waited for a break in their conversation to introduce both he and his brother.

Florentine and Quinn, was it? He knew the name Florentine. She was the Sovereign of Terrastella, the queen, right? She seemed nice. Far nicer than any experience he had with royalty. Turquoise eyes, wide with earnest emotion, glanced between Quinn and Florentine until he could finally introduce himself, and he did so proudly and brazenly, jovial tones carrying his voice along the evening air.

“Hi,” he began happily, tail swishing with merriment and ears forward and alert, “I’m Erd. This is Ard. It’s nice to meet you both, Miss Florentine, Quinn.” Erd hoped, belatedly, that Quinn was not offended that he didn’t get a title before his name. Was that rude? Was that something he was supposed to do when addressing people? Erd didn’t know. “We just arrived here, so it’s, um… It’s really nice. To meet everyone. Thank you for inviting us.”

@Florentine @Quinn – Hope you don’t mind the twins hopping in? :D

FLORENTINE

always one decision away from a totally different life
-- ♕ --

The sky is a watercolour of blues, purples and golds. Day succumbs to Night with a gloaming so spectacular its sight sends shivers down the girl’s spine. What a night they had chosen for their Twilight Party. The girl’s eyes close, her golden face turned towards the setting sun. It bathes her in gold, turning her skin to a metal that gleams transcendent and otherworldly.

It is fortunate for Quinn, that with her eyes closed, she does not see the way he stares at her. Though, even if she did, it is unlikely she would say anything. The girl was used to stares by now – stares of anger, stares of respect, stares of love. She felt stares that struck her like a blade and others that warmed her like the sun. She then felt others that were indifferent, and though them all the girl remained quiet and sought to let them slip like water off her back.

Quinn is a passing shadow across her eyes, his body is framed by the sun, the gentle curves of him falling to darkness in the light of this gloaming. Golden lashes fly open and within her amethyst gaze she holds him fast. Her smile is mercury upon her lips, fast and liquid and beautiful. “Welcome Quinn.” The girl hums, her quiet revelry still clinging to the edges of her. Petals are a blanket around her and she has not moved from where she welcomed her brethren here.

“I am Florentine.” And she might have said more, her satin lips parted with words that never have the opportunity to land upon her tongue, if it were not for the arrival of others. Slowly her gaze turns to the twins. Her eyes trail over one, his body a sketch of sharp angles and even sharper expressions. Then they trail over his brother who is softer, sleek and warm where the other is cool.

The warmer twin speaks, her voice as silver as the moon above. “Welcome Erd,” And then to his brother, “Ard.” Her smile is warm as the wind that stirs their coats, restless in the coming night. “I hope you all are finding Terrastella a welcoming place?” She asks the gathered trio, her eyes skipping from one to the next. “I hope that none might come here and not feel welcome.”

i gently rise and softly call
goodnight and joy be too you all

While Felwood initially thought herself to be of the anti-social type, she would continue to deny herself as such. She carried herself towards a gathering of the Dusk under a twilight sky, a knot in her stomach. By the time she had arrived there were already a few others, drawn to the fires like moths to flame. The cool shadows of the coming night bathed the decorated area, various spaces lit aglow by the firelight to create a wonderfully soothing atmosphere.

Upon hearing this was taking place, Felwood gave her appearance a soft touch of attention. Rebraiding her mane, weaving small white flowers into it and straightening out her tail. It wasn't much, but every now and again the mare enjoyed doing simple things such as this. A boost of confidence, if you will. The grey mare moved in closer towards the group, the heat of the fire drawing her in as the glow of its light kissed her skin. The chill upon her back was dismissed, looking between those present and flicking a single ear. "Hello, everyone. I'm Felwood." she introduced, her voice was honeyed, a warmth that could nearly match the flames before her.
