Novus is 2 Years Old!

On this day 2 years ago, Novus opened its doors for the first time to members. Since then we've had the pleasure of getting to know each and every one of you lovely members, learning about your characters and reading your stories. You've shared invaluable feedback with us, helping expand and grow the site into something that is uniquely our own. This is by far my favorite equine RPG community, and we would not be where we are today without all of you. Thank you for sticking it out with us and for making this site what it is. <3

To celebrate this special day, we have quite a few exciting announcements to share with you! So without further ado...

What's new on Novus?

First things first, today our SWP is officially kicking into gear! All the threads leading up to now have been tastes of what is to come, with today marking the beginning of all the fun! Check out the prompt for Act III of the SWP, where you can post once to earn additional signos! This prompt will be open for 2 weeks.
In addition, the island is officially open for your characters to explore! You can post as many threads as you'd like in the new board, Bridge to Nowhere. If you have any questions message @sid or @nestle for info!
One more note... In a few days a mini IC event will be posted! We'll be bringing back a familiar item that disappeared from the game a while back, which will give your character an opportunity to go on a daring, possibly dangerous adventure. Keep your eyes peeled!

Second, to celebrate our Anniversary, we have a new raffle for you to participate in!! There are plenty of prizes and fun to be had!
To participate, click the link above! There are 5 different ways you can earn tickets, and there will 2-7 winners will be chosen at the end of the raffle! In addition we invite you to share your favorite Novus memory with us, which will automatically earn you 200 free signos! Go go go!

Thirdly, we have new themes available! At long last, we are finally able to reveal not one, not two, but THREE new Novus themes! All 3 have been generously coded by the lovely @kaons, and feature a brand new layout that we are excited to reveal. <3 The old skin is still available for use, but please check out the new ones as well!
How do you access the skins? Easy! Simply scroll all the way to the bottom of the site, and to the left of the Affiliates you'll see a dropdown box like so:

The default is currently set to First Era, our original theme! But if you click the drop down, you'll fine 3 new options to choose from! One (New Dawn) is a dark version, the other two (Radiant Day and Amber Glade) are light versions. Check them out!

Some notes about the new skin:
  • We have a new avatar size! In order for avatars to show up correctly on any skin, they should now be 250 x 250 px.

  • Speaking of the avatar, it now shows up as a circle in the top left of your screen on the new skin!
    • Pay attention now because this is fancy: you can move that avatar anywhere across the screen, and Novus will remember where you put it when you switch pages. In addition, there are links beside the avatar: alerts will provide a pop out module of your alerts PMs will take you to your inbox; User Links will provide a variety of quick-links such as your User CP, your threadlog, a logout option, and more; Switch opens up your account switcher links for quick access!

  • The layout on the new skin is quite different from the old skin. Feel free to play around and ask questions in the Novus discord!

  • Novus' new skin is a responsive skin. This means it scales down or up depending on the size of your browser!
    • In order for this to function best, all tables and images should utilize percentage-based widths. Code can be formatted like so: <*img src="URLHERE" style="width: 90%">, <*div style="width:90%;">, etc! The percent can be changed depending on how big you'd like your table to show up, but please refrain from using set widths (such as 300px)!

  • Because of this, some old tables may need to be altered to work correctly across all themes. Staff are able to provide support if you suddenly find yourself in possession of a broken table, and don't know how to fix it!
    • Again the wonderful @kaons comes to the aid, and has provided a free, responsive posting table for you to use! You can edit it and replace colors and pictures, but remember to give credit!

  • Stay tuned, this list is bound to be updated with more info!
