THE DRAGON'S DAUGHTER
❄
There are Amazons in my roots - I like to think that it is from my grandmother (a former Queen of them) which the strength in my shape comes. There is the outline of battle and resiliency, if your eyes trace along my shoulders. If they continue to sweep up, you can see the rise of nobility curving my neck - from Guardians and Queens and Dragon Kings - stories that peer out from my piercing blue eyes.
My mother is a slender creature and when I'm full-grown, perhaps, I'll resemble her more. (In truth, my mother is lovely and there is a vain part of me that worries I shall never grow into anything that even remotely resembles her at all.) But my father is from stronger stock - a line of dragon shifters and icebreathers - and it is that, that gleamed the look in familiarity in the eyes of my fellow Northerners. (That's the Dragon's daughter, they would say as they watched me run alongside my brothers.)
When I was born, I was told often that I resembled an uncle I never met. Dark as night, Mama had murmured. With the snowy peaks of mountains, with the frothy tops of waves to adorn him. You remind me of him, she had said with a faraway look.
And then, glinting and gleaming throughout my mane and tail, are strands of gold (because what is a dragon without his hoard?). I'm told that it's because my family is often born that way - we are blonde and blue-eyed, Legacy-lined - and that is how we know one another.
I am many things and I carry the look of my family; most importantly though, I look like myself.
Dragon Ice
Tier 1: Discpuli
Roselin was born with the ability of dragon ice. As a young filly, it was only noticeable by the small puffs of snow-smoke that emanated from her small nostrils. It was erratic at best and lasted for short spurts of time - with no indication when the ice would come or go with little to no effect on those around her.
Tier 2: Vexillum
As she gets older, Roselin will learn that her ability is closely tied to her emotions. The freer, lighter her mind is of worries, the easier it becomes to freeze. She can use that energy into
touch and attempt to freeze small objects. The power is still sporadic and the effects of it aren't long-lasting (or are non-existent given the season).
Tier 3: Periti
By now, Roselin can call on her powers almost at-will. It still requires a great deal of concentration to direct the ice but it is attainable if Rosey can keep her 'cool.' Objects that Roselin touches are prone to freezing and she has had enough practice that she can create sheets of ice over her intended target (unintentional will varying degrees of thickness to none at all). Her gift also manifests as 'ice scales' that appear frequently along the underside of her stomach and neck when using it.
Tier 4: Dominus
At this stage, Roselin has complete control of her power and can summon it on command. The ice will appear regardless of the season and so long as Rosey is nearby, her magic can sustain it.
Parvus: The cold has never bothered Roselin. The bitter winds that blew through their woods often rattled the other Northerners. They said the chill was bone-deep, freezing right down to the soul (and that sometimes made her worry: did she have one if she didn't shiver and shake?).
