Overview

While we want to challenge you to get the items you desire, we still want them to be obtainable (with a lot of hard work, of course). That’s why we’ve implemented site currency and our very own shop! Read these sections to learn more about how to earn signos, how the Agora works, and how to purchase restricted items. If you're interested in seeing the rest of the items that are available to you, go ahead and visit the shop!




Earning Signos

If you haven’t guessed by now, signos are Novus’ OOC currency. To keep things simple, we do not have an IC currency – your characters can work out their own trades, if you’re interested in that! Please visit the Signos Redemption thread for specifics on rewards, limits on how many times you can claim them, and more. With that said, here are a few ways to earn signos:

  • Posting in-character (earned automatically)
  • Advertising on five sites
  • Reaching personal milestones
  • Add a visual reference to your profile
  • Completing a worshiping thread
  • Finding a mate in-character
  • Winning a battle
  • Successfully stealing another character
  • Referring a friend
  • Visiting Novus on your birthday
  • Winning spotlights
  • Joining recommended characters (Courts, genders, etc) when joining incentives are active
  • Participating in IC events

The Agora

The Agora is Novus’ items shop. You can access it by clicking here, or by visiting the link in the navigation bar. As you will see, the Agora is divided into two sections: Common Items and Restricted Items. Please visit the Restricted Items page for more detail on how those specific items work.

The Agora is automated by a coded system, and runs solely off of Signos (Novus' official currency). Most items can be traded or gifted across members.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for future items, please respond to the Suggestions thread! We’re very open to changing items and adding new ones as long as they make sense in the world we’ve created.




Common Items

These are items that can be purchased at any time, are expendable, do not need staff approval, and do not need to be tracked.


Fight: Extra Block -- 50 signos
    Using this item will provide you with (1) extra block during a judged battle or challenge. To use this item, you must state that you wish to do so in the form portion that must be included in any battle/challenge response!

  • Once used, staff will remove it from your inventory.
Fight: Extra Attack -- 50 signos
    Using this item will provide you with (1) extra attack during a judged battle or challenge. To use this item, you must state that you wish to do so in the form portion that must be included in any battle/challenge response!

  • Once used, staff will remove it from your inventory.
Fight: Energy Shot -- 100 signos
    Using this item will provide you with 10 extra to all stats (health, attack, and experience) during a judged battle or challenge.

  • This boost will also affect your stats during the judgement portion of a fight, effectively increasing the likelihood you will win!
  • To use this item, you must state that you wish to do so in the form portion that must be included in any battle/challenge response.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your inventory.

  • Example of its usefulness: Character A has 10 health, 10 attack, and 10 experience. Their total score for Fight X is 150.
    Without the item: 150 + 10 (health) + 10 (attack) = 170. 170 x 1.10 (experience) = 187 total.
    With item: 150 + 20 (health +10) + 20 (attack +10) = 190. 190 x 1.20 (experience +10) = 228 total, 41 points higher!
Fight: Energy Drain -- 100 signos
    Using this item will provide you with the ability to detract 10 points from all of your opponent's stats (health, attack, and experience) during a judged battle or challenge.

  • The affected character cannot go below 5 health or attack, or below 10 experience.
  • To use this item, you must state that you wish to do so in the form portion that must be included in any battle/challenge response.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your inventory.

  • Example of its usefulness: Character A has 20 health, 20 attack, and 20 experience. Their total score for Fight X is 150.
    Without the item: 150 + 20 (health) + 20 (attack) = 190. 190 x 1.10 (experience) = 228 total.
    With item: 150 + 10 (health -10) + 10 (attack -10) = 170. 170 x 1.10 (experience -10) = 187 total, 41 points lower!
Fight: NPC Obstacle -- 250 signos
    Using this item will provide you with the ability to allow staff to create (1) NPC obstacle during a judged battle or challenge. Be advised, this is a defensive item, not offensive.

  • To use this item, you must state that you wish to do so in the form portion that must be included in any battle/challenge response.
  • The NPC obstacle will be posted from the Random Event account.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your inventory.

  • Example of an NPC Obstacle: Character A attacks Character B, who stated they would use this item in their battle form. The Random Event account posts, stating that a deer bolted out of the forest and stumbled into Character B, pushing them marginally out of the way and taking the brunt of the attack before darting off towards the other side of the forest. Character B will have avoided the attack from Character A, but not used one of their own blocks. Character A must react to realistically to the NPC Obstacle.
Stealth: Avoidance -- 50 signos
    Using this item will provide you with the chance to avoid a successful Involuntary stealth posted posted in the Abigo Caves.

  • Sovereigns, Regents, and Wardens can post an avoidance for any player.
  • Populace ranks can only posts avoidances for themselves.
  • When this is posted, staff will roll 0-50 to see if its use is succesful: 0 to 24 will be unsuccessful, 25 to 50 will be successful.
  • If an avoidance is unsuccessful, the item will not be used and will remain in the member's inventory.
  • Per stealth, a total of (1) avoidance and (1) override can be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Stealth: Override -- 50 signos
    Using this item will provide you with the chance to override a stealth whose target was successfully blocked (only applicable on Involuntary stealths posted in the Abigo Caves).

  • Only the person performing the stealth can use the override.
  • When this is posted, staff will roll 0-50 to see if its use is succesful: 0 to 24 will be unsuccessful, 25 to 50 will be successful.
  • If an override is unsuccessful, the item will not be used and will remain in the member's inventory.
  • Per stealth, a total of (1) avoidance and (1) override can be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Stealth: Extra Guess -- 50 signos
    Using this item will provide you with (1) extra guess per stealth.

  • Without items, each Court have 10 guesses: 3 from the Sovereign, 2 from the Regent, 2 from the Warden, and 3 across the Populace.
  • With this item, it is (1) extra guess per use and must be purchased multiple times to add multiple extra guesses.
  • Max of 1 extra guess PER Sovereign, Regent, and Warden, and a total of 2 extra guesses allowed across the rest of the Populace.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Breeding: Choose Gender -- 100 signos
    Using this item will allow you to forgo the 'gender' roll done by staff in any official breeding.

  • If you are having twins, only (1) of this item is necessary.
  • If at any point the pregnancy fails (such as a failed successful pregnancy roll), this item will not be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Breeding: Healthy Pregnancy -- 100 signos
    Using this item allows you to forgo the roll done by staff in any official breeding that will determine if the foal(s) are healthy.

  • If at any point the pregnancy fails (such as a failed successful pregnancy roll), this item will not be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Breeding: Unnatural Conception -- 250 signos
    Using this item will allow breedings that are not biologically 'conventional' - such as conception between characters of the same sex, barren characters (such as mules/hinnies), with a character who is non-existent or dead, etc.

  • If a character conceives with someone dead/etc: The roll will be based off of the lowest "posts together" tier (50%).
  • If a character conceives with a god: They will not ever have seen/felt the god's physical presence. It will be a Virgin Mary birth.
  • The 'successful pregnancy' and all other rolls will still be done.
  • If at any point the pregnancy fails (such as rolling stillborn on the unhealthy pregnancy roll), this item will not be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Breeding: Twins -- 500 signos
    Using this item allows you to forgo the 'twins' roll done by staff in any official breeding. Twins will be guaranteed.

  • If at any point the pregnancy fails (such as rolling stillborn on the unhealthy pregnancy roll), this item will not be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.
Breeding: Guaranteed Pregnancy -- 500 signos
    Using this item allows you to forgo the 'Successful Pregnancy' roll done by staff in any official breeding.

  • The 'healthy pregnancy' roll will still be done.
  • If at any point the pregnancy fails (such as rolling stillborn on the unhealthy pregnancy roll), this item will not be used.
  • Once used, staff will remove it from your account.




Unique Items

These are items that are created and given away due to In Character events or contests. These are generally one-off, do not have unlimited inventory, and cannot be purchased - only won.


Relic of Tempus -- Year 501 Maze Event
    At the start of Novus' rebirth in year 501 (when the site first opened), there was a Choose your own Path / Riddle Me This event. A maze formed out of nowhere within the Ruris lands, and all who entered were greeted by ... something. The keeper of the maze was different to each user, and would only allow them to advance if they answered his riddle correctly. The grand prize was the Relic of Tempus - a necklace that provided amazing benefits to its wearer.

    • This necklace allows the choice between Immortality or a time-related Active Magic to the current owner and wearer.
    • Non-transferrable, unless approved by Staff.
Enchanted Map -- Year 503 Denocte Summer Solstice Masquerade - Maze Prize
    A map that gives off a mysterious aura... and will reveal to the owner the location of every character in the capitals of each court at any given moment.
Deep-Sea Shell -- Year 503 Denocte Summer Solstice Masquerade - Underwater Prize
    A vibrant blue shell with an entrancing aura. Depending on the owner's wish, this shell will transform into a shell necklace, embedded shell in flesh, or a tattoo on the skin that will have a slight scale-like shine. Any one of these options will allow the owner the ability to breathe underwater for one thread per IC season.
Moon-glow Necklace -- Year 503 Summer Solstice Masquerade - Art Pathway Prize
    A delicate necklace with a moonstone pendant. The light that emanates from it pulses softly, lighting the path four feet ahead of the wearer. Where will it lead you?
Masquerade Mask -- Year 503 Summer Solstice Masquerade - Solstice Ball Prize
    A mask of your own design that, when worn into battle, will add +1 point to the defense total.

    • You can design how it will look. Write out the description in your character’s profile before claiming.
Enchanted Outfit -- Year 503 Summer Solstice Masquerade - Grand Prize
    A shimmering cloak with a magical aura... or was it a shawl? There's something about this piece of clothing that seems to almost.. shift... in fact, it has the ability to change up to once per season, at no cost to the wearer.

    • There are no limits on the size of the design, and can cover as little or as much of your character as you desire.
    • You must update the description of the current season’s outfit on your character’s profile.
