Quote of the Season
"Her mother lives all in day, her father all in night, and Apolonia straddles the thin, dusky line halving her heart with not so much grace - startling awake in the middle of the night or at the crack of dawn, trying to find some way to compromise." — Apolonia in

Akeli is a tall, lean mare, coated in silver and marred by light dapples. She bears the metallic sheen of her breed, looking as though she is draped in silk. Dipped in white, she sports an all white left front leg, a white sock on her front right leg, a stocking on her rear left, and her rear right leg is free from any white. She bears no ankle feathering, instead sports clean and neatly groomed trimmings. A white blaze cuts through the grey of her face, ending on her chin. She is crowned by a rack of black antlers, which are always covered in velvet. Large wings burst from her sides, the right matching her body in silver hues, while the left wings are pure white. All wings are trimmed by black primaries. Both mane and tail are composed of straight, lush tresses, with her tail long enough to drag slightly behind her. Her mane is solid onyx, other than the streak at the base of her neck, which is stained white by a splash of paint. Her tail begins in pure white, and only halfway down does the core of black reveal itself, splitting the tail evenly between black and white. Her eyes are like warm honey, a gorgeous combination of browns and golds.

Despite experiencing several traumatic events in her life, Akeli can still find the light in even the darkest of moments. As a child she is naive, and as an adult, she may still seem as such. But the girl’s outlook on life is anything but. She understands that life must occur with its own checks and balances, and has come to respect how life is not always easy. She finds it easy to forgive, and there are few things that would cause her to turn someone away. She is unbiased, and holds no prejudice against others, whether it be race, creed, or motives. Always inquisitive, she is always interested in seeing how and why others view things the way they do. She finds little interest in politics or confrontation, only stepping forward if a true cruelty is being committed. Otherwise, she stands back, and simply observes. In her youth, many will find her outgoing and jovial, but as she ages, that outlook with become more subdued, and she will become more passive and perceptive. She enjoys conversation and storytelling, and for the duration of her adult life will most likely keep to ranks pertaining to healing and divination. She is not easily shaken from her calm demeanor, which may her seem flippant or uninterested. This coolness will likely not win many over, but those who call her friend will have found a devout companion. She has no sexual desires, favoringing companionship over passion and love. She believes that devoting herself to only one other soul is limiting. Though eventually she may find herself to care enough for one soul that she will stay true to, for now she considers her "love story" to be an story open for interpretation. Due to her young age, she still has to find much of this within herself, but as she grows, her jovial and outgoing nature will taper and she will become a well rounded, though some what distant, being.
Born beneath the sweet blanket of spring, Akeli's delivery into this world was unremarkable. Her mother was gentle, nurturing, patient, everything a loving mother should be. Her father was the lead stallion of the small band, and though he had little involvement in her first few months, he was kind and protective, but otherwise indifferent. She spent the first few months living safely under his watch, learning the basics from the other members of her herd. Her family network was small, but family all the same. With seasons come change, and as the summer leaves were set ablaze in glorious shades of autumn, her father was removed from his position when he was challenged and defested by a younger stallion, as was custom. But this new stallion, despite his fiery spirit and lack of experience, was just. Though he claimed the herd traditionally, he offered Akeli's mother an ultimatum. He found the slaughter of his predecessor's progeny to be barbaric, so he offered the mare the opportunity to flee with filly and face the life of outcasts, or they would leave the girl late at night to fend for herself. So, the pair went, mother and child, into the wide open world, banished from the only home they had known.

They traveled for weeks, looking for a land spoken of by many travelers. It was a distant land, full of anything that could fill a weary heart with comfort. Her mother filled Akeli's dreams with adventure and curiosity. Akeli was enamoured with the stories her mother would share whether based in fact or fantasy. She also learned small lessons in the art of healing; it was only the basics her mother was able to teach, including plants that would help an upset stomach, or herbs that would make one feel warm even in the coldest of nights. Still, her curiosity was never fully satisfied, as the girl always craved more knowledge.

When they arrived upon the Threshold of Helovia, the girl's life changed yet again. Helovia welcomed her with profound loss, as uneven terrain and unforgiving stone claimed her mother beneath the sky of coming winter. But, as fate would have it, another mare walked into her life. Ktulu the Constrictor happened upon her, as if by fate, and, with heavy convincing from her companion Eytan, the mare took Akeli in. They spent the winter wandering, and though at times the mare's patience seemed to wane, Akeli knew, deep down, Ktulu had grown some fondness for her. Akeli loved the mare, and every night thanked the stars for leading them together.

If the filly learned anything in her first year of life, the biggest lesson was a lesson in permanence. Darkness had overtaken Helovia, and as gods were killed and a new evil took hold, a great fissure erupted, a portal, and many leapt through in hopes of finding sanctuary. Akeli, taking one look at her newfound mother, asked desperately for guidance. Ktulu promised that they would be together, and then the filly was pushed in, and as the void engulfed her, she was certain that the world had ended.
