Each of her words had him enraptured, each syllable brought him closer to an orbit she seemed to emit. She was a planet all her own, her own atmosphere, her own oxygen. She intoxicated him and yet, he managed to pull himself from the trance she put him in and take in her words. Her words about the stars caused him to tilt his head, but she seemed to brush it off so Zai figured it was best to leave it alone.
Her words about Kasil brought a laugh to his lips, the sound pleasant and angelic, like wind chimes. But, it wasn’t those words that caused the most reaction from the impressive beast, it was, in fact, her words about travelling that brought a bright smile to his face. Excitement built within him, his heart leapt within his chest, for once happy for what was to come.
Zaius quickly caught up with the blue coated woman, a bright smile on his white face and a skip in his step. The meadow stretched for what seemed to be eons before them but he was ecstatic for what may lay beyond, the night court.
But, her question about his home caused him to stutter for a moment.
“We- Well, I am from a land called Cirrus, a kingdom in the sky, the buildings made of clouds,” Zaius began, his voice carried an undertone of heartbreak.
“The citizens of Cirrus are, as they say, descendants of angels, our bloodlines so pure we are only a step down from them,” the man spoke as he continued to walk besides the star spattered woman.
“We hold a great reverence for the wind in Cirrus, it is the lifeblood of our culture, the voice of our ancestors,” Zaius said as he paused, unsure if he was willing to explain why the crown prince had fallen.
He felt ashamed for a moment, unwilling to share what he had experienced.
