Coraline didn’t know what a library was. She didn’t understand written word, or books. She had seen a strange man (a friend, perhaps) doing something irrational. He was painting on the walls, saying it was relaxing, or something of the sort. What in the world was painting? He was creating complex designs on the walls of a cave. She found it amusing, but not something she was inclined to try. It would probably blow her mind to discover that horses could find things like books and keep them, too. In a library no less! But I digress. The filly has not even come to this library yet!

Until she arrives here.

Exploring the lands she calls home, the silver girl finds a new path and follows it. There are no smells of danger, nothing that screams to her that she should flee. True, her little heart is pounding in her chest because she fears the unknown…but she is curious, too. Noises echo down the hallways, half of them are her hooves, and half are something she hasn’t heard before. Rustling sounds, perhaps. The soft whump of a book as it opens its secrets on a table to prying eyes. She knows not what the sound is until she comes to an opening. A room, of sorts, with strange objects lined up neatly. But how to describe it? Her button eyes widen in surprise. What sort of magical world had she come to? She stands and simply watches the strange winged male with his strange objects, carrying them like Pandora would carry her kits, if she ever had any. The filly felt a pang of loneliness as she thought of Pandora. The stuffed fox had been taken away from her by the magic of this place. Her heart ached for her companion, and she wondered how she could get her friend back.

Before long, the male speaks, and Coraline starts. Majesty? Her? She giggled, having no idea there were others anywhere near her. She had seen the square thing fly and heard it land behind her, but was completely unaware Kasil was there, too. ”No, silly, I’m not a Majesty. I’m Coraline!” Her young voice was warm, full of childish wonder, and amusement. ”Why are you throwing those things? Do they not taste good?” She moved forward to a table in which a book had been left out, sticking out her tongue and licking the binding. ”BLEUGH!” She wrinkled her nose. ”No wonder you threw it! These taste horrible!”

”Speech”
