The Fall Festival of 504

current events & announcements
It would seem that the harvest season brought with it more than bounty enough to last a winter.

Raum has fallen and a new leader has taken the Solterran throne. Asterion, the now ex-king, of Terrastella has not been seen since the island (and there are rumors that others are missing too). Denocte seems almost as heavy as it joyous (is it ever all heavy here?).

Children are running around the court, fresh faced with all the boldness of those who are destined to inherit the world. A new Regent and Council have been named by Isra. And even with all the loss, and change, the entire autumn seems charged with potential.

To celebrate what seems an end to an era, Denocte has sent out invitations to everyone to come participate in the harvest rituals. From Vagabond to Court Citizen, everyone can be seen pouring into the city by the sea. Rooms are becoming harder and harder to find and camps have started to sprout up like weeds outside the city walls. All of Novus is celebrating even as it tries to heal.

Remembering the Dead Celebration @ The Night Markets

They say on this night that the veil between life and death is thin. Some may take it as something to fear, but this is a time to remember those who have passed on. The markets are decorated in all things Autumn to fit the celebration. Many dance around the tall bonfires lit in the market square while others join the great feast. There are youths carving pumpkins and some bobbing for apples. To the side, some have set up altars to honor deceased ancestors and friends. There is a wide assortment of items: skulls, pumpkins, gourds, dried leaves, acorns, mementos, candles lit in their memory and so much more. The night is alive with the scent of mulled cider and mead and the sound of laughter. Some may mourn the dead, but Denocte celebrate them and all the good times shared. Their lives were a blessing and deserve to be remembered for the best reasons.

Shed Star Readings @ The Night Markets

Perhaps you've come to the Night Markets to honor someone you've lost, or to take part in the harvest fun when you catch sight of the side of a tent, bending beneath a sharp Autumn wind. The bonfires throw sharp shadows across its canvas surface, and if you watch long enough, you just might see an equine leave who looks more reassured than when they entered. Come in and ask the wise, night-shine woman inside about your future. Settle in among the burning, dancing candle flames and piles of pillows faintly glimmering with gold. All are here to seek comfort and direction during the long, dark winter ahead and the coming year, you are not alone. There is more to this time of year than meets the eye, and the Shed-Stars are no strangers to prophecy and fortune.

*Tag @Katherine and @Layla in a new thread for a reading! Please be detailed in how your character is feeling and if they are looking for a reading on the year ahead or want answers to a specific question.

Spooky Corn Maze @ Sideralis Prairie

The corn maze has seemingly sprung up overnight out in the prairie. It is quite expansive, with stalks thick and green and almost impossible to see through. Enter, if you dare, and try not to get lost in the maze's twisting, crossing paths and sudden dead ends. Although it's lit at night by lanterns hung periodically along the pathways, it seems that no matter the time of day, some stretches of the maze are plunged into near complete darkness; and if you feel like you're being watched, well, that rustling in the corn might not be just your imagination. Beware! You never know what might be hiding around every corner—scares from some friendly locals, yummy treats scattered about waiting to be found and, maybe, even a secret box containing the map to freedom.

*Members can write in their own spooks or secrets or tag @Katherine and @Layla for a spooky NPC account interaction!
