There were layers and layers of stillness around him, slicing through and silencing simultaneously. Yet the sun still screamed down to him through woven columns of light, tearing into his lungs and searing the sand beneath his hooves. Solterra was home for the beast, so he learned to find solace in the scorching long ago.
[2] The citizens of this land built its core long ago, construction to protect against the savage attacks of elements and raiders alike. It still stood today, and, as Somer entered the court's fortress, he remembered all the strength and resilience those walls possessed.

His crimson gaze pivoted back and forth over the sight, washing over soldiers in combat training, citizens meandering, entertainers doing their dances, and merchants hustling the naive. And he, their sole medic, nearly smiling at the humor of himself in such a role.
