A pale colored woman sits on the opposite side of the table waiting patiently. Her eyes are a cloudy gray, indicating her blindness, and yet she looks right at Boudika when she enters. This particular Shed Star had a special magic that allowed her to see in a different way. It was what allowed her to do readings, but also gain special insight with her third eye.
Boudika poses several questions, but the Shed Star merely blinks and shuffles the cards in front of her. She does not yet speak as she channels the spirit realm for guidance on this woman's best course of action. Then, she places out five cards in a specific pattern on the table. There is a moment's pause before the card in the very middle is turned over. It shows a rainbow colored snake wrapping around a sword that's pointed upwards. The background of the card is dark with a few streaks of lightning pointing in towards the sword.
"You must make your approach with a clear mind and focused intent," the Shed Star begins to explain. "Seek out all of the facts and put aside your feelings, even if it feels uncomfortable. You might be called on to bring order to a dispute before the emotions run too high. It is possible to be someone who is supportive but also brings order to the chaos."
This is all she says before moving to the next card directly below. It reveals a duckling that appears to be swimming. Its reflection in the water is also rainbow colored. The Shed Star smiles.
"What will help is to tap into your creative mind. The Daughter of Cups brings a good omen for a new venture or relationship. She also says that your unconscious mind is speaking, possibly through your dreams that you must be open to the unexpected. Listen closely as a messenger will arrive in five days with good but emotional news." Her tone is steady, but within her third eye, she can see waves crashing about and a silhouette of someone. She does not speak of this and will let the messenger do their duty later on.
Without hesitation, she moves to the third card that is to the left of the first card. When she flips it over, it reveals a bat hanging upside down. Its beady eyes are red and almost glowing. "How mysterious…" she trails off when seeing The Hanged Man. "Changes are happening and you do not know where to turn. This indecision is like a state of being suspended by external forces, but it is a good time to consider your options. You feel as if you are stuck in the middle of some kind of disagreement or tension surrounding a decision you need to make. You must let go so you can grow."
The next card is at the very top and reveals a goat with flames at its feet. It appears menacing in some way. "Yes, you must let go to move on. Let go of the things in life that constrain you, that prevent you from living up to your full potential. You must look within as these are not external but your own self-bondage: your fears, addictions, harmful attachments or impulses," she explains, her voice becoming louder and more desperate. "You are not powerless as the power to break free is yours. Break free of these bonds, of these negative behaviors holding you back. Push past the despair and seek freedom." The Shed Star's brow creases as if she is in pain. In a way she is as she can feel something from Boudika with this card. She takes a deep breath and moves on.
The final card is to the very left and reveals a barn owl grasping a sword. There are balls of light floating in the dark background, almost like spirit wisps. "Remember from the first card as the suit of Swords represents truth and clarity. You must have vigilance, diplomacy and tact. Be vigilant against gossip, spiteful people and pettiness. You are entering a new phase of your life and this change will feel uncomfortable. But, for any good to happen, there must be bad." The Shed Star pauses and looks out into the spirit realm (although to Boudika, it will look like she is staring off into nothing). There is an ocean creature that greets her with a smile before it splashes back into the water.
"Look to the Dolphin for guidance, my dear. They are a healer in their own way and Dolphin types are so important to the world. They enjoy the company of others as they are a communal species, so being with loved ones and family is important."
And with that, the stick of incense is snuffed out as is the candle that had been lit behind the Shed Star. The tent has become dark, but there is just enough of a faint glow from outside for Boudika to see the woman smiling.
