Bad day! Bad day, bad day, bad day. He’d gone and run out of the city again, escaping into the canyons because of all that Noise and Attention and now he was here! Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. ”You’re an idiot, you! A stupid idiot!” All by himself, he was. Alone, for certain. Never in Sada’s life had he been able to see things which were not there; he could only hear things which had not been revealed. Or was it the other way around? ”Nevermind that,” he said.
He circled back, thinking perhaps it was time to go and get some water. From the oasis? The city? He didn’t really know where either were from here. But he’d gotten here! Maybe he could go back. Couldn’t find his way back home, but who knew? People changed.
Something in the rocks seemed strange, something moved, a pebble scuffed the ground; Sada could not make sense of what he was seeing (surprise) and was just dehydrated enough and just in his element enough to think it was just a hallucination. ”But maybe it’s not? Hey! Get the fuck out here!” He tried to sound authoritative and confident, so whatever was hiding would know he was serious. He could really see them! Really.
