Pure of Heart
Days of cleaning, of making her home hers once again. There was something therapeutic about the venture and she took her time, moving from room to room as she worked. Her home was in order… now to organize her armory area. She took special care to do the work, carefully organizing and displaying the blades that she had brought home with her.
There were memories tied into the blades, moments in time when she had struck the steel to shape it into the beautiful piece that it had turned into. Her warm eyes danced along finely honed edges and Damascus patterns that seemed to be etched into the very steel. There was beauty in a fine blade, no matter the size. A beauty that was edged in danger and lethal grace.
Finishing her task, she smiled at the armory of beautiful jewels. There was an almost motherly pride as she closed the door, almost as if she was putting her children to bed. Shaking her head in amusement she glanced over to the pillowy bed that her companion had moved into the sunlight to bask upon and laughed. The canid was sleeping, her paws racing through the air as she dreamed.
Stepping outside, she moved to the side of the house. There was plenty of room to build her forge, to make a place where she could practice and hone her craft. But the building would take some hard work. Sighing softly, she began to trace out the walls. The striking mare used her wing as a pen, dragging her feathered wing in the dirt to make indents. Once she had figured out the perimeter, Uzi moved to figuring out the layout of the new building, where her forge would go and what tables needed to be where for optimal use of the space.
Now, she would need materials. Part of her wanted wood, but the smarter side of her brain wanted stone that would not burn should an accident happen. Something that would make it safer to have flames so near her foal hood home. Near the memories of her mother. Sighing softly, she traveled to where a merchant sold his wares, purchasing the stone materials so that they would be delivered the next day. She was ready for this new chapter in her life.
Returning home, she stood outside and enjoyed the warm sunlight as she gazed at her home and the new building that would be soon joining it. Her forge, her new reason for life. She wanted to start that journey and make her way through life with a new purpose.
