keep me please, sister, when you cry
i feel your tears, running down my face
The mare felt sluggish.
It wasn't unusual, in fact was quite common after a grueling lesson with her companion. But today it was more noticeable as she was forced to her feet, following the shout of her name. The exhausted side that wanted to sleep was annoyed, but the dominant side was confused as to why her sister was here.
Pol had thrown herself into her healers lessons.
She should be learning under another's tutelage, not hunting through the swamp sounding so desperate. Her sister's greeting but concern drew a tired laugh from her. "I am fine. I used a lot of my magic, and energy during training today is all." She assured, even as she forced herself to keep from yawning.
But something did seem wrong with Pol.
For an instant, Bel wished their mother was there, with her soft voice and gentle touch that could solve any problem. Bel hadn't had time to learn that trick just yet. So as Pol dropped to the floor, her words tumbling, Bel felt a little lost, a little unsure how to respond. Had it been Jiri, she'd have drawn the child close. Sol would just need a stern talking to and a reminder she was there. But where in the middle of those two actions did Pol fall?
It was a lot to ask of her awake.
Half asleep and slowly gathering her awareness she worried making the wrong response. Still she touched her sister's shoulder before asking gently, "what has you so troubled. Perhaps speaking of it will ease your thoughts?"
