ON RAGLAN ROAD ON AN AUTUMN DAY
I SAW HIM FIRST AND KNEW
THAT HIS DARK HAIR WOULD WEAVE A SNARE
THAT I MIGHT ONE DAY RUE

Unaware of Camdis' gaze the young sovereign peered up at the stars, limned in silver and pitch, every rough line of his muscular body outstanding under the moonlight. At the sound of approaching hooves he turned his head, his face blank for a moment before splitting into a welcoming smile - leaking warmth despite the chill that permeated the spring air. His body followed the turn of his head shortly after, shifting subtly to face the horned titan that he had summoned and dipping his own head in response to Camdis' baritone rumble. A pleased expression crumpled his brow at the mention of Raglan, the orphan boy.

"I imagine Raglan will be quite happy with that," especially after he finds out he's the page to the new Regent of Denocte. The words came out in a low murmur, Reichenbach's silver eyes lightening with amusement at the situation - Raglan was known for his swift fingers and silver tongue, though the thought of him attempting to thieve from Camdis was entertaining. Reich was about to say as much when Lothaire arrived - a looming presence that announced itself even before the actual man topped the crest of the hill. Detaching his long lashed gaze from Camdis' was more difficult than anticipated, like tugging against an elastic band, though once he laid eyes upon Lothaire's keen gaze Reichenbach became quite conscious of his thrumming blood and sensitive skin. This was not the place - nor the time.

He brushed the thought of sable lips aside - with trouble - and shook out his mahogany skin, jingling the coins around his leg and in his hair with the movement.

"Ah, Lo!" He nodded his great head with the words, his smile easy and welcoming and just a little nervous. The scent of far off wood smoke calmed him as he faced the lake, staring out across it's reflective surface as he chewed on what to say, or rather on how to say it. The stars burned distantly, catching in the corners of his eyes as he turned back and explained:

"As you both know I have recently become the newest Sovereign of Denocte and The Night Court," he shook his head absentmindedly, still adjusting to the moon-burnt title "However, after Rhen's disappearance, there was really no Court left to watch over our city and country, so..." he paused, the music in his voice lilting and hesitating "I would like both of you to step into positions."

Reichenbach looked between the two of them in stoic certainty - he had chosen right. Camdis would give his life for Denocte - they both would - and he had experience ruling, not to mention he was as zealous as they came. If anyone knew Calligo's legacy, if anyone knew what lifes-blood ran through Denocte, it would be he. Reich had seen the way the ex-King defended their way of life, their wild freedom and their deity - and he approved.

Lothaire was a wild card, a foreigner to Court and to the lustful, passionate lives the people of Denocte lived... yet that was why Reichenbach had chosen him. He was cold and clear and his eyes - he spared a moment to appreciate the depthless obsidian pools - saw everything. He could think of nobody better to be the emissary to the hidden world of Denocte - to protect their livelihoods, he would be the mask of The Night Court.

"Camdis Lohir, would you take the position of Regent?" he paused and looked to Lothaire "And Lothaire, would you be interested in the position of Emissary?"

The question hung in the air, the music of Reichenbach's lively voice fading as he looked between the two of them - silver gaze bright with amusement. There could have been no stranger trio, no three men more different, and yet they stood shoulder to shoulder with a cause - a direction and a purpose.
