Caelum
i've had just enough time"
New land, new beginning.
At least that is what she was telling herself. She was still new to Novus, having flown in on a westward bound wind not too long ago. She stood at the lake side, her gaze drifting out over the water, the peaceful setting settling her mind far better than anything else that had happened lately. The water lapped at her hooves, wetting them as she stood with just her frontward limbs in the shallows. The water seemed so crisp and cool against her delicate limbs as she watched the waters move. The wind pushed off the surface, the ripples it created marring the surface just enough to break up the peaceful stillness. The ripples brought the water closer to her, pushing past her hooves and up her lower limbs a little more. She dances back, long delicate limbs removing themselves from the cool water. A soft fluttering as her shoulder blades shifted had her limbs slowly lifting from the earth.
Fairy dust danced.
The sparkling bits settling over her form as she rose out of reach of the water, limbs half curled beneath her least she catch them on branches, or bushes as she flew. The wings glittered as the sunlight danced on the iridescence film, reflacting the light into a shimmering rainbow of colors. With each flutter of the delicate membranes, the wings let lose another flurry of the soft fairy dust that enabled her light wings to aid her in flight - similar to the wings of a moth or butterfly, increasing the efficiency of her flying. It was a lot different then having a pair of bat wings or feathered wings to aid her, as well. She hovered just above the water's shallows, waiting out the wind as the sparkling dust fluttered from her wings, peppering her roaned hide and the shore and shallows below her. The wind kicked up her long ivory locks, the thick hair floating around her like some ethereal fabric, long enough for her mane to touch the ground, and her tail to drag if she where to walk the lands. In the air, they danced around her though, their volume enhancing the body of the moon-kissed locks and adding to her delicate appearance.
Delicate was a good word.
Perhaps it was the aspects of her that was fae like, perhaps it was her gentle nature, the softness of her smile. Maybe it was the delicate, and thin lines of her limbs, or the subtleness of her curves. There was so much to the female that appeared delicate, but there was strength hidden in her chocolate gaze, their was poise to her stature, and courage in her stance. There was determination in the tilt of her head, but hesitation in the arch of her neck. Her emotions, her thoughts she wore like armor, like jewelry, carried on her being with every action she made, and facial expression used. Anyone watching, anyone knowing her could read her well, yes. But few could understand all of the aspects combined, all the points that brought forward, all the different angles that made the mare who she was, and who she'd been.
The secrets behind her mask.
Few would ever get to know the Caelum Bella who once stood strong before her adversaries. Few would see the Caelum who could capture the attention of an entire nation, who held her own during a meeting between nations, and who could rule a kingdom with out bowing to the pressures. No one would meet the Caelum who helped form and run a freedom campaign, who assisted in creating a resistance and rescue those who could not rescue themselves. No one would see who the mare had once been, just as no one would know what her actions and her decisions had cost her in the long run. The Knoxx's kingdom was gone, her people had suffered for her choices, and Caelum wouldn't share her misery with a soul, it was her burden to bear, her pain to carry, her secrets to hold.
The wind howled.
Her locks twisted and turned on the current, carried around her and whipped around with the force of the winds as they seemed to pick up in intensity. She half closed her eyes, tucking her head to the side even as her wings fluttered to keep her held in the sky. She angled her body to the right, back towards shore, away from the water's edge. The crisp air was cold against her blue-furred pelt and as she landed softly, first with her hing limbs, and then with her forehooves she made quick movements to get out of the more violent zephyr's rushing over the lakes surface. She dipped behind a tree, allowing it to provide a break from the cold autumn winds that brought the promise of winter to Novus.
She hated the cold.
No, hate was a powerful word. Dislike was better. Besides, Caelum couldn't really hate weather, it was a necessity to life, a way of creating and closing the circle. Winter cold re-hydrated a dormant world, so as spring came and melted the snow it spurred new life for the lands. She couldn't hate something that could do so much world, but that didn't mean she had to appreciate the cold snow that clung to her wings, or the way it made her tiny and delicate form shiver. She'd have to find a decent place with in her new home of Denocte to ride out the worst of the winter - least she be buried by the snow, with heavy wings unable to carry her out of the snow-blown mounds.
So much to do.
Her list of things she needed to get done now that she'd come to Novus, and found a court to live in was growing. But even as it grew, she felt like she wasn't doing enough to get herself ready. She didn't really know anyone of Denocte. She hadn't made any friends, she hadn't found a place to call her own, she hadn't done anything except be welcome into the Court and keep silent and mysterious about who she was - what she had once been; what she could still be considered. The crown still fits, even when your kingdom is decimated and in decay. Caelum violently shook her head, before tossing her mane back, telekinetically lifting and twirling part of the longer strands so they looped over her back and didn't drag. There was no help for her tail, however, as it caught occasionally on brambles and leaves. She was meticulous in her appearance however, and as soon as the wind died down again, her wings were fluttering and propelling her into the air, where she was telekinetically re-aligning the threads of her tail and once more setting them about in order.
Time to move on.
No, not even truly move on. But there was still so much to see, so much to do, so much to understand about Novus, about the lake, and so much more. She fluttered off in a random direction, dimly remembering the Fall Harvest Festival going on as well that she need to check out, potentially make new friends, participate in prizes and more. So much to do, so much to see, an unending list of things needing done. Caelum sighed, aware that the life of a fae was never done . . . and forgetting she should be allowed to just enjoy herself as well . . . Caelum was always forgetting to just enjoy herself. Even as her wings fluttered and carried her a foot or two off the ground, her mind still raced . . . she didn't remember the last time she enjoyed herself.
