""rich kid, asshole, paint me like a villain""

His encounter with the Regent had left him a little shaken up - though he would not admit to it. It was one thing to have his intentions doubted, it was another thing in its own right to have them doubted when he had been truthful for once in his life filled with more lies and deceits he cared to admit. At least he was not immediately thrown out, that was a definite win in his books. He did need to calm down his slight heightened heart rate though. Luckily he had passed a lake when he had traveled towards the court, it wasn't terribly far away and it would find him much needed refreshment before he found a place to rest - wherever that might be.

It indeed did not take him as long to arrive there, the gentle breeze that had picked up as he walked making him shiver just slightly. Coming from hotter climates, it would definitely take him a while to get used to the change, nothing impossible - just an inconvenience. It was also why he didn't immediately bathe himself inside the lake, instead opting to just resting his tired feet at the edge. The cold water working miracles on them. So much so he didn't really pay attention to his surroundings. It wasn't like his day would get even more eventful, right?

azrael

Azrael strayed from his mountains, with a mind troubled by a thousand jumbled thoughts.  It was strange, seeing the shed-star in the daylight.  For in the sun’s shadow, he is less vibrant, his aurora shine muted in the sunlight.  He walks with a graceful step, head tossed high while dark tresses waterfall down his neck, blinking with wonder at the brightness around him, taking in the beauty which Denocte hid from its night-dwellers.  There were vibrant colors from flowers which spilled over onto their well-worn paths, mixing with bird song and the occasional distant whinny of his herd mates.

He pulsed along the lake’s edge, remembering other nights where he’d spoken softly in the moonlight with strangers.  Remembering still, the fateful night when his beloved had gazed upon the stars in his mountains.  So much life had happened in between, the memories jumbled with emotion, raw and real.  But in the sunlight, Azrael pushes these thoughts away, closing his eyes and letting the cool water lap against him, clearing his head.  He needed to find the peace which came with enjoying Caligo’s nature, for the stallion was still as lost now as he had been through the winter, finding threads of joy in the confusion, slowly coming around to his new normal.

When he opens his eyes again, the shed-star sees another in the distance, just across the lake.  Curiosity steers him forward, lapping quietly through the shallow water and whickering low as to not frighten the stranger.  When Arkhandirr does turn, there is a quick recognition of the look on his face, something akin to the confusion and lostness which Azrael too was battling – and so the aurora stallion offers him a wane smile, warm and encouraging.

“Penny for your thoughts?”  His voice is rich and sincere as he stands beside the stranger now, staring into the distance and enjoying the peace of the moment.

“Speaking.”

Golden eyes met blue as he turned his slender head, freezing momentarily before his posture relaxed once more with an upward tug of his lips.  While he was not expecting more company tonight, it wasn’t like he was against it – quite the contrary. Despite the happenings earlier, he was not about to let it take over the rest of his day.

This was exactly why he decided to stay and chat, even if it was just for a little bit. Surely there was no harm in doing that, right?

“Oh, nothing much. Could be asking you the same thing, couldn’t I?” a soft, sultry chuckle left his lips, his head turning to look over the lake once again. “Mostly enjoying the view, vastly different from deserts and sandstone..” he trailed off, bringing himself out of it by shaking his head. “Really though, what about you?” he hummed, looking at the other from the corner of his eye.
