beat me black and blue, every wound will shape me, every scar will build my throne

As
she looks out at the beach tonight, it looks and feels different. There are some parents and their children making sand castles on the beach, others are just talking and laughing, and some are gazing out at the star-filled sky. They weren't just her Court, they were her people now and her responsibility. Once she knew this is what she had been seeking for some time, she saw an opportunity she didn't want to miss out on and acted on it. Of course the outcome hadn't been entirely what she expected, but Antiope made her choice. There was only so much Morrighan could have done then and now the moments have passed. There are more important things to be focusing on now.

For one, she is hoping more will see her as more than just angry and unapproachable. She will always be a little annoyed by people and like her solitude, but she's slowly trying to come out of that. It's why she wanted to hold these festivities for the Court. Keep them all engaged and alive, but remind them of what was really important here. It all feels a little cheesy the more she thinks about it, but at least there are drinks.

Morrighan has been careful ever since she went too far at the bar. It certainly hadn't been her proudest moment and she prefers to keep it in the past. So she made sure there were plenty of options on the menu that were hardly strong at all but would still allow her to participate.

She had been looking for Tenebrae initially, but she's still happy to see the familiar face of Azrael as she walks forward. She dips her head to him in greeting and then he comments on her leg.

Right, that thing. The wound that's more than just a wound and is deteriorating flesh. "Yes, it's made quite some progress," she tells him as she takes a seat beside him. "Thank you again." She leaves out some of the important details. Only Elena knows just how bad it is but thankfully she has a good amount of medicine from the woman to tide her over for some time. She had just applied it again before she made it down here so there isn't a limp in her step or any sign of pain.

There is a brief moment where they are silent other than the noise of them sipping their drinks. Morr's is a mulled cider and the spices linger on her tongue as she looks out at the beach again. Seeing everyone having fun fills her with a sense of pride.

She's pulled from her thoughts when Azrael mentions her daughter. "She definitely has a way of meeting everyone around here," Morr answers with a smile, although it's a quality she wishes she had in herself. Hopefully Maeve will never let go of that and not resort to being so cynical like she is.

It makes her laugh when Azrael suggests Maeve takes after her. "Hopefully not too much like me," she says, her voice getting a bit quieter. There are many parts of herself she would not wish to be passed on to her daughter. "But yes, I found her in the castle. Aspara helped me save her from some demon in there. We'll never visit that horrible place again." The island had always been mysterious, but never to the level of danger that they experienced then. That was enough for her and surely enough for Maeve with all the trauma she went through. Morr will always feel guilty for it.

His last question feels a bit awkward for her. Queen. It didn't really have the same ring to it as Regent had for all this time, but she knows she'll need to get used to it being her new title. "Still settling in, but not too bad," she says, although there are many more things she wants to say. Nerve-wracking? Overwhelming? She'll get one thing done and realize there are fifty other things to do or someone will ask her a question she doesn't know how to answer because it's by her own order, not someone else's. She wants everyone to see her differently, but not so different that they feel like they have to bow in her presence. She wanted to be seen as their leader, but not someone that needed to be… worshipped almost.

So, she decides to move the spotlight off of her in the conversation. "Any plans for the future, new Champion of Wisdom?" Morrighan asks, taking another sip of her drink. It's something she hopes to do more of- consulting and collaborating with her regime and counsel. Now seems as good of a time as any.

"Speaking."
