LIKE ICARUS LOVED THE SUN -

Like a moth to a flame Reichenbach was drawn to the sunlight that bathed the Steppe in gold, his mahogany coat gleaming and slick in the hazy afternoon light. It seemed all of the courts had been drawn into action by Solterra's flurry of activity - the announcement of new Sovereigns echoing throughout all of Novus as if in competition. Of all Denocte's more suited politicians, it had been he, he, that had gained the honour of serving Denocte and the Night Court as it's reigning Sovereign. In all the madness and mess Reichenbach had slipped away for some peace, the blood thrumming hot and thick through his burning veins. He'd never really been made for Court life - not in the traditional sense of the word. He was made for chill nights under shining stars, for embers and flame and wildness, for life and love... and in all that he was, Reichenbach had finally discovered that he could create a Court of Dreams to serve the people he adored. His people.

A pleased sigh slipped from between his relaxed lips, lashes brushing his cheekbones as he opened his eyes and blinked a few times to adjust to the bright, fat sunbeams that haloed him. He had been hoping there might be someone else at the Steppe, another who craved some exercise, some bruising and bloodiness, just to bring himself back to reality. Alas there had been nobody when he arrived, nobody but the birds and a single rabbit that had bounded away as soon as his black knees had been brushed by the edges of too-long grass. Reich glanced at the arena, it's downtrodden earth compact and no doubt holding more history than he could fathom, countless warriors blood had watered that earth, and no doubt even Kings had done warfare here... Kings. Sovereigns. The huff of a disbelieving laugh left his throat as he was once again brought back to his current situation. He rolled his shoulders, wanting a release from the weight that had slowly gathered there.

Though he would never shirk the responsibility to his people, the weight of a whole courts wellbeing weighed like a brick upon him - this was why he had arrived at the Steppe with fire in his eyes and a brightness that was all too difficult to dim. He thrummed with energy, with power and muscle, the need to fight and release, to spit blood and throw punches - and the battleground stood silent and empty, save for those infuriating birds.

@Maxence

Summary: Reich stands about in the sun annoyed that 0 people are there to punch him haha

M A X E N C E
ALL THIS BAD BLOOD HERE // WONT YOU LET IT DRY

The fleeting heart within the lion had not ceased to quake nor soften it's quiver since his roars had cried out over all of Solterra, his rallying cries seeming to remain unheard by it's natives. They wished to remain scattered to the wind like ash? Thin not just in numbers but around their every rib too? Perhaps it was just he, the soldier, who had until so recently fought, wished and dreamed for something more of his own country that now he wished to see out the same efforts in the wasteland he had found himself coming to call his new home.
The Solterrans though; they were less than enthused. An olive branch he had offered them, A call for purpose and unity, yet they had knocked it from his outstretched palm.
Despite whatever rumors had been circulating there was still no such sovereign ruling in Solterra - this was something that Maxence would endeavour to change, and as he sought to continue his riling he would also continue his efforts to nudge the woman known as Avdotya toward the throne. She of all the desert dwellers he had met remained the only one who seemed at all fit to shepherd them.

It had been with haste and in a flurry of furious feathers that Maxence flew east and then south, never deigning to look below the clouds until he was nearing the central peak of the continent and was certain that he was far from the borders of that Solis-forsaken dustbowl. Were fury and frustration not already consuming him, perhaps Maxence would find himself once again in a fugue state of anger at the state of the clouds and how thick they were - there was no way he was to know what dwelt beneath. It reminded him far too much of the winter of his youth - just the taste and choke the cloud cover provided was enough to cause his teeth to grit as his canons sunk below the cloud line in a hopeful bid, praying that they were sinking to more sky and not into a disguised forest.

Dropping below the hood of clouds to view an altogether different landscape from the one he had set off from, Maxence was greeted by a pleasant view of field and flower - and even then, a king
Maxence was usually one to listen in on gossip and any information he could soak from his surrounding, though still he had next to no clue that the gruff man he approached was the newly crowned sovereign of Denocte. The airs of this gentleman were just that; gentlemanly. There was no entitlement nor any kind of insufferable cast-down stare. This man who stood before him, one of jingling coins and a lofty round head appeared a true and genuine soul at first appearances, though still, Maxence still could see the irritation upon his face and how the need for sport twitched over his skin.

"What sparked your fuse?" Maxence came to smirk through his withered yet handsome face, allowing his dark hooves to gingerly step in calculated, criss-crossed steps "I see you are in the need for sport". Even were he not Maxence would challenge this man anyway.

So it was with a swipe with his two front hooves that he began his assault, the kind that was less calculated than he would have liked (and already he was internally growling at himself for making such a mistake). Easily this was corrected as he took his aim once more, this time aiming his right-front hoof for that of his opponent in an attempt to sweep it out from underneath him - it was from there that the commander strode forth, pushing all the weight of a giant through his hind quarters as he plotted to entirely bowl the bay gyspy over to the heath and grass below.

Summary: Maxence is grumpy about the rally at solterra, flys south and finds and equally as angry reich and so fites him haha.

LIKE ICARUS LOVED THE SUN -

In a flurry of heat and feathers a man dropped from the sky, landing with a hefty thud upon the Steppe. Reichenbach felt his furrowed brow rise, his tumultuous silver eyes brightening with interest at the patchwork figure striding powerfully toward him. Where he had come from, Reich did not know, but as the man drew closer the Sovereign of Denocte felt energy thrum and surge within his deep chest - it didn't matter who he was, or where he'd come from, what mattered was that he was a kindred spirit in need of a fight

The electricity between them hummed, the muscles beneath Reichenbach's slick skin tense and taught with the promise of violence - so much so that he didn't take note of the cold, calculated eyes or the weather worn brow of his opponent. He saw only sweat and muscle, the twitch of a taunting smirk. Maxence's good looks (for they were good, all structure, hard edges and worn handsomely with life) were a shadow to him, all that mattered was that song - that thud, thud, thud and thrum, thrum, thrum of his heart and his blood.

It was in that lacuna between the roughness of Maxence's voice and the pattern of his aggressive hooves that Reichenbach's face split into a chaotic grin, the light in his eyes ablaze with a savage delight as he danced on the tips of his neat, hard hooves. This was what he had come here for, this freedom of blood and bruises, the ability to be bloody and wild, to smile through crimson teeth and roar in unbound fury. The music in him swelled, a torrent of melody that had his skin vibrating in anticipation for the first move.

He skipped back a step as the other stallion swiped at him, clacking his teeth as Maxence's sharp hoof scraped against the skin of his foreleg but grinning all the same. He half reared, the strong muscles in his hind legs singing as he met the stride of his opponent - a grunt was forced from his chest, his bones rattling with the strength behind the blow. He savoured the pain, let it fill his heart with rage and chaos, releasing whatever it was as a man that made him want to hurt. He shoved back, snapping savagely at Max's eyes before kicking out with his front hooves, trying to draw blood from the other mans legs and chest, all fire and laughter.

Had he been a soldier, like the man he tackled, Reichenbach might have sought to lessen his fire, to control it instead of letting it spread unbound through logic and reason. But Reichenbach was not Sovereign of The Night Court for nothing - he was vibrant and alive and he allowed (whether or not it might be his downfall) himself to feel and react openly. He began to feel the stinging of the slash on his foreleg, his chest already tender and bruising - and still he smiled.

Summary: Reich dances back from Max's attempt to swipe his foot out, but Max's sharp hoof cuts his foreleg. He meets Max's stride chest on and pushes / shoves back at him, snapping at his face. As he shoves he lashes out with his front hooves, trying to cut or bruise Max's chest / legs.
