When he was small, his mother, Luvena, would speak often of the sea. She had many stories about what happened near its shores. Her favorite story to tell was always about how she had met a woman named Io Kairavi, and how that woman had become her sister.  But, there were others too. some were about herself, how she had met a troubled mare in the rimrock bay, and they had met the evil renegade, a man who made mares build him, minions. (He now understood that was his mother's euphemism for Renegades real crimes), some were about others. He remembered one story in particular, about how a mist had rolled in from the east, and taken over the lands of Arae, swiftly destroying the herd, and forcing the Aranea to fuse with Corona. But her grand takeaway for him was always that the sea was a place of great change and growth. Sometimes it was calm and peaceful, but it could change at a moment's notice.

He didn't get to see the ocean until he was three and traveling. He was left breathless the first time. A huge expanse of blue, stretching on forever. He had stood watching it for what felt like hours, what must have been hours. Until he could finally pull himself away.

And there he stood now, on the edge of the cliff by the Terminus Sea. watching. He finally understood what she had meant, by calling it a place of change.there were some areas where the water below seemed almost calm, waves just barely marring its surface. But in others, it eddied and crashed, thundering against the rocks, and receding until he could almost see the sand beneath it. He was changing too. He hadn't intended to stay this long. He was a traveler now, a wanderer, sure he had committed to that bit.  If for no reason other than to learn what wonders the world held. But... Novus, there was just something about it. Something that he couldn't pull away from, couldn't resist. How could he resist, when this felt just like home?

he knew he couldn't stand here forever, not with the sun already fully below the horizon. The stars beginning to spring forth in the darkness.  'my blazing star' something he had heard often from both his parents. They said that's what his name meant. blazing star. He was torn away from those thoughts as he heard the clip of hooves against the rocks. More than one set from the sound of it. He spun around, ears pinned back against his neck. He squinted into the darkness - His vision was certainly better than Cavaliers, but it wasn't perfect, especially not in this light - searching for whoever might be drawing near. Not everyone in Novus could be friendly.
