Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun

The leaves in the trees brush against each other emitting a rustle that is light and soft on the ears but just loud enough to disguise Alioths delicate cloven hooves pressing into the soft soil of summer with its thick earthy smell. The air is humid and hot as it flows effortlessly into her lungs. Her wavy depthless tail drags lightly on the soil as if to lightly trace the tendrils of hair like fingers upon the cheek of mother earth. Her hair is full bodied and soft as a newborn, light upon the wind like the seeds that float from the trees in the wind. The seeds are so thick that it seems like it is snowing on such a warm morning. The world is alive with new life, new romance, new challenges, and new journeys.

Alioth is here now, here in Novus. This forbidden land that she has only read about in scripture and heard stories of as she grew up. They talked about a race of horses that are monsters who worship strange gods and live a savage life. The history of Novus is different in so many ways to the world across the sea.

First impressions of this land are mild at best. Veteris is much more beautiful in its landscapes and historical monuments. Aloiths kingdom of Summer is, of course, her favorite place to be and in her opinion much better than any of the other three kingdoms of Veteris. The waters are a light blue with sandy beaches of white. The reefs just off shore where the coral grew and an entire ecosystem of fish, turtles, eels, sharks, dolphins, starfish, sand dollars, and more. The variety is far more diverse than anything Alioth has seen in her venture to try and see how far this world of Novus goes.

She is here to collect information and perhaps create alliances with those who might protect her summer kingdom in the future if the need ever arises. She also planned to learn of the history here and further educate her people whenever she returns to her kingdom. Her one and true home.

She avoided sight from other horses as best as she could by taking roads overgrown but still evident from a time long ago and sheltering in caves or under deep cover to not be spotted by the sky. Certainly, someone had seen her. Her pearlescent coat of blues, purples, and greens is not the most discrete look but she is proud of her scales that cover her back and face. They are a symbol of the purity of her blood that descends from her ancestors.

Alioth thought this dawn court that people whispered about would suit her needs for the time being. It seems lush and green unlike the sandy desert to the east. Alioth is a creature born of land and sea, the lack of water in the day court would shrivel her skin up like a raisin, not a good look for a queen.
Amethyst spheres surveyed the world in front of her but made no sound, they would see her soon enough and someone would become curious enough to come to her, queens don’t beg and don’t crawl after others. Like moths to a flame, they will come, she is sure of this.

Her world was black and white with shades of gray. She came from winter, born of the harsh North. Memories were almost useless now he could never go back home even though she misses the bitter frost that would glaze over her glass like coat. Pink nostrils flared a bit a snort of boredom perhaps as she grazed over the vegetation. Long black tail dancing lightly in a still breeze that seemed to be motionless in the humidity. He was not a summer child, heat seemed to agitate her, it always had though it wasn't until recently she realized it, her mind to preoccupied before to notice. Her body shined though, reflecting a dim light around her as it ounces of the obsidian glass furs illuminating shadows that would have been near her. Her pale face looking around her, observing the greenery that grew around the capital of the Dawn Court.

They knew so many things here, scholars, philosophers. She often wondered why she chose this place to be her home in this new land, their ideals and Gods were something foreign to her but as days grew in numbers she was becoming used to them. She likes to think she had a knowledge most didn't a knowledge about how the world works. Common sense was a dying knowledge I most of the lands she had traveled, but here she was more of a student than anything. A commoner in the court with no real chosen way to attribute to the kingdom yet. Her tail flicked again a poker tell if you will that agitation was growing in her blood, finding a path to take can be stressful in a new home.

Eyes darted around, looking for a distraction really, am interactions, something to keep her mind on a more productive path before anxiety got the best of her, they found a scale muddled roan, shades of blue greens and purple scattered over her making her look almost aquatic. She seemed to take the path least taken fighting the shrubbery to get to where she was going, towards the castle perhaps? Hooves danced into motion, knee length mane fluttering at her side, as she went. The are was taller than her, thinner, dainty, it was true that Glass did have more of a stallions build than a mares, muscles developed from the war she had abandoned covering her baroque built bones. The black of her coat dappling into her neck leaving it to be a shade of ivory that covered most of it. She tossed her pale forelock behind her ears  as she approached,

“ Hello there. I take you are one of the Dawn Court as well? ”

She spoke finally coming to a halt as she neared the other mare. She too was horned but much differently than Glass was. While she adorned antlers Glass hers where lined vertically on her skull the first the longest obsidian spiral  starting on her forehead , the second a few inches below.

LOOK AT YOU KIDS, YOU KNOW YOU'RE THE COOLEST
THIS WORLD IS YOURS AND YOU CAN'T REFUSE IT

Spring had finally given up it's grip on the land, summertide taking it's place with the promise of thunderstorms and unrelenting sunshine. Every year, she cursed the hot season, her mortal body craving the harsh winters of her mortal childhood home. A land long forgotten, perhaps, she did not know. The memory of her arrival in this place flooded her -- not that she could forget anyways -- the feeling of suddenly waking up in the thick of a snow drift rushing over her. Even now, nearly six too-long years past, the once-immortal fae could not shake the feeling of her body crumbling like ruined castle's walls around her. Every breath was kissed with death, each inhale poisonous and ever closer to when her physical body would perish.

And oh, how she longed to be among the stars. An ethereal, timeless goddess she was. A silent watcher and keepers of knowledge. To know the makings of every existing timeline in every universe, every possibility, every outcome. It was overwhelming and glorious and brutal. But she had known only such since the birth of time itself.. living out multiple millennia in solitude. Mutually aware of her brother, her twin.. her other half to an existence far greater than this damnation she was now living.

The witchy woman spat onto the ground at the very thought. Not that her pure hatred ever left her.. oh no; she thrived because of it. Her ambitions and desires were the only reason she had not burned this world to ash and dust, forcing her way back to the starborn life she had came from. Now, she could only do what she was good at. In the court of the rising sun, Nimue could only find solace from her constant frustration by remaining in the library. As a sage, she acted as the closest thing to what she had been long before. And if she could rise here, in the mortal realm the universe damned her in, at the very least she might be able to force the god's hands in regards to her own desires.

Thinking of this, as always, the rosy femme strolled through the court's castle. Her hoofbeats were silent and soft on the dry earth, the too-sweet smell of blossoms thick in her lungs. Normally, the crone-like mare would never be caught outside the grand library during the daytime hours;  instead feeling more at ease in the company of books and silence than younglings and older folk alike with their silly questions. Today was a rare day, her muscles twitching for movement, and so she walked. Blissfully alone and with herself until her good blue-violet orb fell onto the presence of not one, but two mares.

Strangers, at best. Surely because she preferred peace and quiet, of course she did not initially recognize the two newcomers. Her eyes gazed over them both -- not entirely omitting the fact that she was attracted to them both. One, with scales the color of many opals and sea-pearls. A stunner, really, and one unlike she had ever seen in Novus. Perhaps in another land, another timeline, she might have seen her. But surely she would have remembered someone like her. The other, a beauty as well. Her coat the obsidian abyss of deep space, a color so dark that it could have matched Nimue's soul. Simply, she was taken with them both.

Regardless, although surprised, the witch hesitated. Her curiosity would be her undoing, as always. Her frustration about her lonely stroll being interrupted subsided -- however momentarily -- as she neared the two lovely strangers. She nearly choked on her own words, forcing herself to remain civil as a soft grin played at her lips. "Surely, you both must be new here," she stated matter-of-factory, shaking her forelock so her haunting eyes were bare for them to see. For I would not forget faces like either of yours.. she added silently.

KASIL

There was something very calming about flight; the familiar way that the wind rustled beneath his feathers and against his skin, the fresh gusts of air in his nostrils reinvigorating. His favorite time to fly was during the dawn, a time when he felt the closest to Oriens himself. It was also the time that many were still deep in their slumbers, and the world had yet to break into the chaos of day. Kasil often let himself revel in such moments, the private time that he took to himself away from his studies and the worries of being a Sovereign.

He could not help the sense of dread that came within him when his time of flight came to an end, the nagging strings of responsibility beginning to pull him from the sky. With an impulse, he began to rise high above the trees -- far higher than perhaps he should be going, still finding himself drifting in the direction of the citadel. He reached for the stars beyond the atmosphere, until his breath shuddered and left him, stretching his neck until his eyes closed and he began to fall. It was something that perhaps should have caused a panic in the stallion, the thought of the hard earth quickly coming up to greet him, ready to catch him. Instead there was a certain aura of peace, and that was what frightened him. He supposed he could have fallen to his very death, but at the last moment, the stag turned himself right again and used those large, dark wings of his to catch himself -- snatching him away from the earth’s talons.

He was breathless when his feet found the ground again, his wings spread wide and fallen against the ground as if they were tired too. Outside of the walls. Still alone, and with a moment to collect himself -- Kasil drew back to what the people often saw. Not a hair out of place, calm and personable -- something more befitting of his title. Tucking his wings against his sides, the stallion began a methodical pace. Perhaps the library would give him refuge today. He found himself exhausted already -- the previous night spent walking the halls until he could no longer take the silence. Then it had been out here, past the walls of the citadel -- and his flight. Sleep. He would need sleep before too long, and the library could offer the perfect cover for a little nap.

Kasil took the lesser used entrances and exits to the city, his stride rather purposeful as he moved towards it. He found that it was becoming more popular as they days drew onward, but he supposed he had no real reason to begrudge the loss of his not so secret pathways. It was a sparkle of color that caught his eye, causing the stallion to give pause. His ears fell back against his skull, the gold piece at his forehead shifting with the movement as he found himself struck by the sight of three mares. He recognized Nimue right away, her rose colored coat and her...less than rosy disposition easy to spot. It was the other two that he was curious about, a pair of unfamiliar faces. It seemed as though his court grew every day! It was a blessing, but Kasil often found himself at a loss with newcomers.

The stallion decided to join them, if only for a brief moment -- adjusting his compass so that he was redirected towards them. ”Nimue.” He said brightly, a smile playing on his dark lips. ”I see you are making friends.” He teased, knowing her reputation as a ‘witch’ had made her a little unapproachable to some. Hello. He said cheerily, turning his attention to the darker mare first, her build more masculine and he supposed some could find it intimidating. ”I am Kasil. It is nice to make your acquaintance.” As he spoke, his attention turned to the scaled beauty, who appeared much more delicate. ”Delumine welcomes you both.”

Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun

Like Alioth suspected, it did not take long before someone approached her. No emotion crossed her façade besides for a cordial and subtle smirk as a greeting to the mare. She looked about the same age as Alioth but quite stunning in the changing dimensions of blue, gold, white, and one of the darkest coats Alioth has ever seen. The horses of the summer court are known for their bright and vibrant colors, none have ever been so dark as this female. She stood about the same height as me. There is little the mare gave off about herself in her words, she only spoke a sentence. I am here to align myself with the Dawn Court. This land appears to be satisfactory to my needs, for the time being. Alioth choose not to give out too much information to this horse, who knows where her alliances lie.

It wasn’t long before yet another mare came strolling up but this one seemed like she wasn’t so sure this was all that great of an idea. Regally Alioth looked to the creamy, ivory, and onyx mare with a gem around her neck that could rival the purples of Alioth’s own scales. This pale eyed unicorn is shorter than the first who arrived. She seemed less of a threat than the first. Perhaps she held some sort of position in this world since she came from the massive structure that must be the court of this land. It seemed an appropriate place for the king or queen to reside. She spoke as if she knew more than she should and with such confidence. What a curious mare this one is, she may hold some of the knowledge Alioth seeks to acquire. I can only speak for myself. Indeed, I leave fresh tracks here.

Yet another approached but this time he carried the aroma of a male. He is dark like chocolate mixed with a lighter caramel in some places. He even seems to dawn a crown like Alioth has except Alioth’s crown is of gemstones in the shades of the purples of her scales. Lavender eyes shadowed by long lashes looked him over in his confidence and assumed this is the closest bet of the three to be in a position of power here. He greeted the pale eyed female with familiarity to which Alioth noted. Alioth’s eyes are indifferent to each she glances at. She portrayed only the essence of her position of queen of her summer court, she knew no other way to carry herself.

This male is so much more chipper than the females. What does he have to be so happy about? Maybe because he faces three females, perhaps every man’s dream. Hopefully, he has a clean mind. He did provide the name of the pale eyes mare with the purple necklace and another name for this place which saved her time there. Alioth’s thinly lined face tilted ever so slightly as she looked at the finely rounded muscles of the stallion with a smirk before looking over the group. Many thanks to you Kasil for the kind welcome. Greetings to you Nimue, and to you dark miss. I am Alioth. Alioth thought for a moment about if there was any other personal information she should relinquish and decided it would be unwise at-this-time. I seek the king or queen of this court. I require permission to join this court. Alioth assumed this company could fill in the rest of the details. She kept her chin up and her body poised as she was trained to do since she was born. Appearance is a large part of keeping a good reputation and being an ambassador for her people. Hopefully, they are safe with her brother.

LOOK AT YOU KIDS, YOU KNOW YOU'RE THE COOLEST
THIS WORLD IS YOURS AND YOU CAN'T REFUSE IT

Nimue swallowed, willing the heat rising in her rosy cheeks to dissipate. She had better things to do than make herself a complete fool in front of strangers.. albiet, beautiful strangers. Blinking, she attempted to See with her blind eye, reaching out into the flows of time to guess the outcomes of this meeting. Instead, as her tendrils of power slipped, she was met with simply nothing. The relic bound and hidden from view was mocking her. To gain back a shred of her power only to have it be nearly useless.. her frustration was a tangible animal as she began to mentally bind it. The last thing she needed was to greet newcomers dishearteningly.. although she was the Witch Child after all.

She cursed to herself, quietly, as the leaves around them rustled and her king stepped into the flowery glade. The rosy dam dipped her crown as he entered, hiding a sneer as he teased her. He was ever cheerful towards the two lovely mares; ever the welcoming kingling as he built his Court. She could have warned him, might even still sometime, that such things are not always necessary. In her old life, before her cursed mortality, Nimue had watched as a multitude of kingdoms and worlds were born and destroyed. A phoenix cycle of rebirth and death as time forever flowed forward. Maybe she will warn him, maybe not.. she would have to see.

Her attention turned not from Kasil to the brightly scaled woman in their circle. She spoke formally, and evenly; Nimue noting how her ribs constricted when she said her name. Funny, how the colorful mare looked for Dawn's king just after he had found them. She chuckled to herself, speaking up. "You stand in the presence of Kasil, Sovereign of Dawn," she said, dipping her crown towards her dark king, her gaze illuminated by the glowing amethyst at her throat. "And I am Nimue, Sage to the Court of the Rising Sun."

KASIL

Slightly sweaty from exertion of flight, it was not Kasil’s finest appearance to date -- but he had little choice in the matter. He was always so very curious about who it was that came to Delumine, a scholar’s mind never tended to rest. It was amazing the experiences that other folks had; their walks of life very different from his own. The world was a never ending wonder in his own mind. He seemed to notice that his teasing had not been taken well by the rose-colored femme, and he dipped his head like a scolded child and allowed his ears to flatten. ”I meant no offense, Nimue.” He said softly, feeling like he had been transported back to his youth when the Sages would scold him for playing inside the libraries.

If he had been more assured of Nimue’s preferences, he might have reached out to touch her -- but instead he gave her the reverence that he thought she deserved. She was an odd bird, but a powerful one and she deserved his respect. The king lifted his head once more, and let his attention turn back to the scaled fae that introduced herself as Alioth. Somehow, he thought the name to be fitting though he did not know it’s meaning. He was about to introduce himself as the king, when Nimue spoke up -- delivering the news in a more formal manner than he would have. Kasil was a personable king, much preferring to be considered a servant to his people rather than exalted like a god. He deserved no such praise, no such distinguishment. He was a Sage and fellow patron to Oriens, not much else.

He offered a little smile. Thank you, Nimue...for that introduction.” He said, watching her. She was acting very peculiar today, and he wondered why. His attention swung back to Alioth, caught between the two females like a ball that they were passing back forth in a game. The third female had not spoken up since, and he didn’t wish to engage someone who didn’t wish to be engaged. Swept up by conversation, he would feel guilty later for all but forgetting about the third fae. ”You wish to join us?” He asked, seeking clarification. ”Or are you looking to be a guest amongst us?” He wondered at her story. The Sages were the ones who admitted new members to the Court, and they would ask her many questions about her life before this point.

”We would be happy to welcome you. The Champion of Sages would be the one to speak with, as they will gather your history and deem you worthy or not.” He frowned. ”As it stands, our Court has gone under some recent changes in leadership...so there is not a Champion of Sages just yet.” A moment passed, and he glanced at Nimue. ”Perhaps Nimue would be willing to help the Court by learning more about you.” He said, though it was not necessarily a question and more of an order. Kasil had been considering Nimue for quite a while yet -- and if she could handle some more...official duties -- he would have another reason to see her moved up in the ranks of Delumine.

eee sorry this took so long to get to you!

Black as holes within a memory
And blue as our new second sun

This is a big step for her. She is stepping out of the realm of reality and comfort and stepping into a story told to her by her parents, like a fairytale. These foreigners seemed kind enough and real enough but the stories spoke stories of monsters with fangs and demons that will possess your mind and horses that wish only to enslave our people. The stories meant to scare the residents of Veteris of never wandering over to Novus. It kept our people a secret and safe. It was a way of keeping the bloodlines pure and the courts from intermixing. It was created by horses long gone and the original meanings are muddied now and like a fog in the minds of those who make decisions now.

She looked around at them, no fangs, no demons, and no slavery so far. She looked indifferent to not show anything positive or negative. She did evaluate them as best as she can from the outside and she liked how warm and pleasant Kasil seemed to be. He is handsome and regal too but perhaps a bit too open and welcoming for a king. He seems to wear a crown which is appropriate for those in a position of power. Alioth has her own crystals in her own forehead that she was born with, a mark of royalty in her people. Something no one in Novus may understand. Alioth did like that questions of her would need to be asked but how much she will reveal is to be determined based on the questions. King Kasil I have not decided yet if this is a place that would be a good fit for me so, for now, I should be a guest for the moment. She looked to Nimue and studied her and the purple gem around her necklace. The mare is stunning in her simplicity and there is a knowledge about her. She is not as youthful in personality as the King. Perhaps she would be someone Alioth could be more open with, perhaps not. The decision seems not to be up to Alioth.

Ask your questions but I will be straight-forward right now. I may not be able to answer all of them like you want them to be answered. The rosy speckled and celestial white female is beautiful really and endearing. There is just something she cannot decipher about her presence. She will perhaps be able to ask her own questions. I will answer as best as I can. Will you be present for this questioning King Kasil? If so then you may begin Nimue. I am ready.

LOOK AT YOU KIDS, YOU KNOW YOU'RE THE COOLEST
THIS WORLD IS YOURS AND YOU CAN'T REFUSE IT

The irony of the whole situation had bubbles of amused laughter rumbling deep in the back of her throat. Her dark king stood before her proud and defiant, ever the new ruler of their kingdom. Nimue's seriousness was not staged, her smitten blush hidden by the rose hues of her skin. She was young by mortal standards; her soul older than time itself and trapped in a crumbling cage made of flesh and bone. As a Guardian, a solitary watcher, a seeress and keeper of all knowledge throughout the universe's infinite timelines, Nimue was gifted. Intelligent. And so very, very old. A crone trapped in a mortal shell. She had witnessed worlds burned and destroyed to nothing more than skeletons and dust, only to be born anew amongst the ashes. Kingdoms rising and falling, and kings and queens through the many makings of time.

She had once, perhaps, watched her own king; in another life, another existence that she no longer belonged to now. In all truths, the Witch Child could not remember if she had or had not. With the relic of Tempus in tow now, however — albeit very carefully hidden — Nimue had all but regained her abilities. Finally, blissfully, she had unlocked the part of her that could See.. truly See; her mortally-blind left eye now open to the Sight again. Although weak — a child's grasp — the rose witch smiled to herself at the very thought. The knowledge that she was a step closer to her internal goddess once more a wondrous low-burning flame churning in the darkest parts of her soul.

Nimue would not yet speak of her past and her true form yet.. best kept from her king at the moment. But for now, as always, although her skin ceased to shiver at the thought, the witch gave him the respect he rightfully deserved.

Until further notice, that is.

Kasil's smile and exchange of words struck a chord of curiosity in her; if not just because she desired to find out how he decided things. What his motives were; how his mind worked. Knowledge was her power, after all. The same strike of curiosity hit her when her haunting gaze roved over the two other women, almost lazily, but unmistakably with an interest that had the witch's heart beating a little quicker. The mysterious air hanging around them both was alluring; their beauty even more so. Her delicate crown tilted as she looked more deeply at the planes of their faces, and the secrets laid hidden in the sparks in their eyes.

She wondered then what sort of kingdoms they hailed from — what sort of destruction might have driven them to such a new, reborn place such as this.

Her ears pricked forward at her king's suggestion — demand, an order — and although her breath caught hotly in her throat, she dipped her head anyways. "As my King wishes," she replied, surprisingly with truthful chords. The new position of Counsel could serve her well to her own selfish advantages, as well as having a more equal ground with her King, if need be. Plus, she could not deny the temptation of unrestricted access to the court's libraries. But it was the other half of his order that had her holding her breath. Yes.. so she would stand to learn more about the colorfully scaled woman after all,  it seemed.

A phantom grin of amusement played at her ivory lips as her gifted role settled. Her headache was dull, pounding softly at the inside of her skull, but not nearly as painful as moments before. Instead, she focused on the quiet girl who had not yet spoken many words, as well as the woman who appeared to have stepped out of the ocean itself. Such beauty, and grace, and mystery that clung to every bright scale and hidden behind the tufts of her hair.

"I would like to access you for your truth, and honesty, before my King deems you fit for the court of Dawn," she spoke, clearing her throat. The rosy witch shook her wild mane, her forelock falling to the wayside as her open, eerie gaze was no longer hidden by a curtain of silk. As she blinked, her left eye began to See; flashes of color flooding half of her vision as the timelines began to open up before her. She could only manage for a few minutes before the colors and clarity were gone. "Where do you hail from, Alioth? What brings you here seeking our Court?"
