Dance like no one is watching

There was something magical about the lake, something that made Syn feel alive. Tangled in her mane, her enchanted butterfly flapped its wings and used its little legs to hold on stronger. A smile graced the fae features, her heart leaping at the knowledge that Sav was here and she could see him again.

Dancing along the shore of the lake, she flicked her tail and grinned at the colors. She felt more herself now than she had in the past few months. Sav’s conversation had helped, though she was still afraid to face her cousin after their last conversations. So, she continued to dance through the snows and enjoy the cold air that danced over her body.

A pause settled over her and she dipped her muzzle to the edge of the water. There was still ice, easily broken by an acid painted hoof. A long drink from the frigid waters was refreshing, like a memory sweeping over her from home. Standing still, she lifted her head and gazed about her. It was quiet, but not lonely. A hope to see one of those that she adored fluttered in her heart as she enjoyed the peace.

Vitreus Lake seemed to be the place that Reinhart kept coming back to. No matter what season, it always held onto its ethereal beauty. There is a bustle of life in the early morning when the light first hits the thin layer of ice on top of the surface. The horned noble moved through the still-frozen terrain almost effortlessly. The paths to and from the lake were well worn into the frozen ground by now by the many inhabitants of Denocte. Reinhart had half expected himself to be alone out here, but the closer he got to the lake, the more noises he heard. Soon enough he broke the tree line and spotted a semi-familiar form of a mare he recalled as Syn. She danced along the shoreline through the snow beneath the first rays of morning light.

Reinhart chuckle to himself as he watched her enjoying herself until she paused long enough to take a drink from the still ice-cold water. The gray bronc felt a buzz inside him once more as he began his descent down the gentle slope towards her. The buzz that he'd had all his life in Novus had returned, and the conversations he had with others were no longer painful. The bronc imagined that was because he was finally settled back into his home. Part of him was surprised the feeling returned, and that his social demeanor had returned since he'd left his once-fiance Evander. It hurt less each time he thought of that name, but it still hurt. Reinhart masked the flicker of pain on his face as he drew closer to the mare.

"Looks like you were having fun, I hope I'm not intruding."

The familiar voice brought a smile to her features as she spun to face him. "Reinhart! How are you my dear friend?" She said with a grin, dancing close to touch her muzzle to his shoulder. This presence was soothing to the fae imp, something that made her feel more peaceful and normal.

She was still feeling the upheaval from the traumatic conversation with her cousin. Regardless of the pain in her heart, she wanted to be happy. To be home with her friends, the family she chose. They might not be blood, but between Savannah and Reinhart, she was grounded and felt like she belonged.

"I am so thankful for you…" She murmured, not realizing the words had come from her lips and were so foreign to what she would usually say. Syn was not sappy, not one to easily give in to emotions and warm fuzzies. Flicking her tail, she snorted softly and shook her head. "Sorry… Caelum has me rather out of sorts." She laughed as she leaned against his warm presence.
