Now armed with the knowledge of the current events in the land, Venari had opted to split off from the two equines he had only just met and try to go it alone. By now the rain was thrashing at his pelt, the large droplets causing an irritating sensation upon his skin. Regardless, Ven had to do something with himself and this relic quest seemed like his best option to get to know the lay of the land he might end up calling home. As he trotted towards the sound of water, his mind flashed back to his more troubling times. The thoughts were triggered by the forest he was currently travelling through; it had been a forest in which he had been hunted all those years ago. He shivered. Shook his head. That was enough of that; he hated to dwell at the best of times, let alone the worst.

Nostrils flared as he registered the scent of fresh water. He was here. The river stretched a fair distance as he scanned the land; this would be more work than he anticipated. What else was there to do, however? In addition, this search gave him a reason to explore the nature of this land and to potentially meet others with the same mission. Venari pushed himself into a halt just shy of the river bank. Craning his neck forwards, he gazed at the rapids and winced a little at the ferocity. No way was he wading in on this stretch.

Flicking his tail against his rump, he turned a sharp ninety degrees and picked up a collected canter. His path followed the bends of the river from a safe distance. The ebony audits upon his crown would judge whether or not it was safe to check for a relic based on the volume of the rushing water. The quieter, the better. Five minutes later and he dragged himself to a halt once more. Rain still pelted his coat as he craned his neck down to judge the velocity of the water. Much calmer. Satisfied of his safety, Venari made careful progress down the river bank, ensuring not to slip on the already quenched earth. He took a quick drink to take advantage of the resources before pacing carefully forwards in a walk with his eyes scanning all about him. His hopes were not high for this specific search but the teal stallion intended on searching most (if not all) lands within this new world for any relics he could find.

Despite his mentality, Venari was a creature of curiosity and thus he intended to complete the quest to the best of his ability.

WEIR
When the flower girl sings

In the few hours that she had rested in the lands of the dusk court she had already realized there is something pulsing in the air. It vibrates the strands of leaves and grasses around her, it is pulsing, and it sinks below the skin. It raises the hairs behind her ears like some fizzing static electricity. She feels like there is a calling pulling her to explore these almost virgin landscapes, to feel and to touch those sweet beautiful places and to revel in what might become of the feelings. Something between the raindrops was calling but not to just her, to everything around her. It was in the very fibers of the grasses.

She looked to the south with pale colorless eyes that carry only the pink hue of the blood flowing beneath the surface. The musk of the vegetation stagnant in the waters stills fills her nose but it reminds her of near where she grew up, about when she only had two legs and much less hair. There were places down the river from her village where people would collect different kinds of fish, they would collect some of the mud. Sometime they would find different things like feathers and shells that had somehow managed their way this far up the marshes.

She faces her direction of travel once again as she walks across the border into the courts of dawn. There was no indication of law taking over the land so she felt no fear as she walked towards a river ahead of her. She knew from her history that other people or horses like to be near water and where there is water there is people enjoying themselves with drink or becoming intoxicated in the sun. It is not sunny now but she hoped still to maybe find something nice that she could make a cloak with at some point.

There are also treasures that get left behind. She decided to begin her search for relics here near the waters of this river. She stepped gently through the tall ferns and flowers along the banks, weaving her way slowly through the trees. She even checked in the shallows between the river stones and in the sands of the banks. Regardless on if she found anything she felt calm and she could say it was nourishing for her. This is when she noticed movement in the trees coming towards her but without noticing her. The horse has teal stripes coming down its side, like hers but not quite the same. The horse seemed to be searching for something as well but Weir didn’t understand exactly what the horse was searching for so she stood there and she watched.

"blah blah blah."

Venari waded further downstream at a slow pace, his eyes almost glued to the earth beneath the water. He would search dry ground a little later, but since it was already raining why not get his hooves wet? From the corner of his ice blue eyes he noticed another equine. He snorted softly in personal reaction, eyes scanning the design of the stranger. They held horns much like his and a more colourful pelt in comparison to his. It was hard to judge while on lower ground, but they looked a little taller than him too with a not too dissimilar build.

Ducking his head down quickly, he scanned the stretch he had recently waded into and then reverted his attention back to the stranger. He whinnied in greeting, the stallion genuinely curious as to properly meet this other stranger. They appeared calm and peaceful in demeanour, something that Ven appreciated greatly in others since it made introductions much easier for him. See, he was usually a timid soul at first, and wouldn't behave in rash ways. Though, depending on the stranger, he may sometimes exude false confidence to make him seem less vulnerable than he truly was.

Ven wanted to make an effort to get to know this stranger a little, however he did not want to be put off his search either. Convincing himself that multi-tasking wasn't a difficult feat, he waded closer to the stranger and fixed a steady eye contact upon them as he prepared to speak. "Hello there, stranger," he pronounced in a calm voice, the tone holding an edge of curiosity and playfulness. He retained his gaze for a few seconds to further register the design of the creature before him and as to not be deemed rude, but then after the time had gone he put his muzzle to the water and allowed himself to search once more. Venari would raise his head once they replied, if they ever did.

home is behind the world ahead
there are many paths to tread

Weir watched the teal and black stranger with horns similar to hers. He seemed distracted by something near the water, not trying to get too near to the waters in this rainy weather. She inspected his horns, and then his ears, and his face. He is somewhat twitchy and unsure of her but who wouldn’t be with someone they don’t know. She continued to smile in return to his as he looked away. Are you looking for the relic as well? I might be able to help you; four eyes are better than two you know. It’s hard to see in the darkness so we can cover twice as much ground in the same amount of time.

She began to look down and around her feet again. She would use her nose to move aside large leaves and search underneath, she would push rocks with her hoof and leaf cover she would scratch at with her hooves. She would use her large horns to push branches of bushes and low laying trees aside so that she could see what is beneath them. She tried to make circling movements so as not to miss anything. Do you know what it looks like? I have no idea what I am looking for here. She giggled sweetly and looked over to the male again. I am Weir. What is your name? I just got here a couple days ago. She kept smiling through the rain dripping down her opalescent face. Water dropped from the tips of her mane and her eyelashes. The drum roll of rain drowning out most sounds around her.

"I sure am," he responded as he lifted his head to scan over the stranger once again. A sweeter smell filled his nostrils as he noticed the slender figure this other held; from both observations he concluded this was a mare. Her bright markings contrasted his almost perfectly, her pink points a paler colour than his teal. The striping upon her body was thicker than his own as well as lighter and much more subtle. She was much taller than him, however, and even from down in this river he could notice the difference. His audits twitched in reception of her offer of help. With a quick nod and smile, Venari accepted the offer in comfortable silence and flicked his gaze away from hers.

Venari waded in the water as she scraped away leaves and rocks with her powerful daggers. He also made sure to search the river bank, especially among the tree roots for something might have fallen down the slope and stuck fast among the tangled nature. No luck. He was sure he would find it someday soon if he tried hard enough, and though he was starting to feel a little despondent, he was grateful for the company. It was then the striking mare spoke out again, causing his ears to twitch once more as he listened. She asked if he knew what it looked like, to which he shook his head and replied: "I haven't found one yet and so I have no idea either," Venari paused, contemplating a further sentence. He decided against it for now, they had time to talk more should they wish as they have yet to search even a quarter of this river.

He felt a sweetened gaze fall upon him and then heard words follow suit. Weir. A short yet wonderful name, he thought as he gazed at her again as to not be rude. She had only been here for a couple of days, to which Ven laughed lightly before replying back. "I've been here for approximately five hours. It would seem we're both new to the world of Novus," his eyes glistened as he spoke, all too aware of how kind-natured this fellow equine was. Anxiety still prickled his skin, however he could more readily shake it off in such fine company. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Weir; I'm Venari but please call me Ven if you wish," From the water, Venari performed a small bow, curling one foreleg into the depths of the water while stretching out the other. He lifted his frame with a genuine smile upon his lips and tilted his head inquisitively.

Part of him saw something unique in Weir that he had not yet seen in another for quite some time. It wad refreshing and it drew out a new side the stag. Yet he was scared; scared of making her uncomfortable and scared of the anxiety he would inevitably feel should he act too brashly.
