AION The days had been swept together in one long and endless blur ever since the music and arts festival. So much had happened, and yet none of it had made any difference to aion to Aion; nothing except for the warm embrace of his lover, and the realization that the days were gradually growing colder and shorter. It made the company of a warm body all that more welcome. He was content, perhaps more so. His worries were gone and forgotten, overshadowed with a single look from his beloved. Nothing else in the world mattered more than the face smiling up at him, the body wrapped tightly around his own. But as the days continued on and on, Aion found he couldn’t stay put. He needed to get out, if only for a bit; he needed to run, to feel his blood pumping, to hear his heart beating. So he kissed his still-sleeping Eros goodbye, reassuring him he would be back and slipping out as quietly as he could. It wasn’t long into his run before the clouds began to weep, but he continued on anyway; relishing the feel of both rainwater and sweat rolling down his sides. He only stopped when he saw a figure in the distance, standing as a lone sentry amidst the deluge. His stride came to a full halt, as he stood there and inspected the winged equine. For a long moment he stared, gauging whether or not she would see him or move first—or whether she was even alive, for she seemed as still as a statue. Slowly, cautiously, he continued his approach. “The storm is only just beginning,” he mused, keeping a subtle distance from the pegasus. “I fancy it may continue on like this for hours.” A million questions flashed through his mind, each of them begging to be voiced.
