A Random Event Has Occurred!
When the stallion first lands the bridge is quiet, too quiet. All the birds that were singing on the lava rock swallowed their songs and settled their wings. A single bird hops closer to watch him, head titled a little too intelligently. It's feathers are ruby red, and dusted in a golden shine that catches the sun and casts off strange patterns of light onto the black rock.
A wave crashes against the bridge and the bird hops closer, and closer, and closer.
He flicks his wings and the movement looks more like a question than a suggestion of flight. And even when the wind picks up through the strange ivy in the distance and ruffles his feathers the small ruby red bird does not take flight.
Instead he only moves towards the stallion's hooves as calmly as a small wolf moving through the thicket. There he drops a bit of coral, pearl white and dusted with the same gold that hangs on his feathers. It makes a hollow sound when it hits the bridge. The bird hurries back towards the shoreline.
But maybe, just maybe, at the right angle that bit of coral looks a little like a skeleton key.
