She is still trapped within the water, unable to travel onto land -- but she is no longer confined by the rocky walls of the Oasis, no longer trapped within a desert -- and it is a marked improvement already. The cursed woman stretches out her fins, pulls water over her gills, and beneath the water it is only her second pair of eyes that are open. The other two are closed, blending into the skin of her face, and she might almost appear like a normal hippocampus except for the way she moves.
The ocean currents are a new entity to her -- the water of the Oasis had been still, for the most part, disturbed only by a waterfall. Here, she finds there are strange currents and jetstreams that push and pull at her fins, that she must constantly adjust herself even when she tries to perch herself along the ocean floor, and her hunting has been suffering for it.
Even the slowest of fish seem able to evade her, and it’s beginning to frustrate her -- she moves to turn with a snarl, the movement clumsy and slow, and finds herself face-to-face with a strange equine. The first thing she notices is the extra eyes, and her own open curiously, peering almost blindly along the set meant for under the water.
“Who are you?”
