With them going deeper and deeper into the island, it made Corr wonder if there was an invisible pull bringing them in. What would they find at the belly of it? The thought intrigued her mostly, but also had her restless with excitement.
Asterion mentioned his own magic disappeared when he entered Novus, just like Corr. It made her stop and think, growing wide eyed at all the possibilities.
"Interesting… interesting. Hmm, it must be a portal thing," she replied, seeming deep in thought. Alternate dimensions, portals and magic- her list of topics to read about was apparently growing longer.
Then came the man's story, so she put all her attention on him as he told it while the two began to walk along again. The way he described his home made her homesick. It sounded just as full of life as her's, only it unfortunately went through more turmoil. The rift sounded horrifying and she could not imagine having to make the decision to jump. It was a bigger step than just traveling to another land. In taking the jump, you were putting your life at a much higher risk. Her joy at the beginning of the story faded and she was left with a frown. Her heart ached for Asterion and she felt a little sorry for making him bring it all up.
"It sounds like it was a beautiful place before… all of that happened. I'm sorry to hear it became a burden in the end," Corr somberly said. Sometimes she was not good at describing her empathy in words. "Well, at least you have us - your Court? Novus has its struggles, but I like to think our Court is quite the family," she added in an attempt to find a silver lining. Of course, she hadn't been here very long nor had she spent tons of quality time with everyone. From what she could gather, they were all a good bunch. Corrdelia never got any bad vibes.
"Did anyone from your home follow you here?" she asked, hoping that his answer would be yes. Corr knew the feeling of leaving family to a new world since it's exactly what she had done. The difference was that she had decided to go off on a journey alone for her own personal growth. While she loved Novus and her people, her sister and Astreas were always on her mind. She did not mean to leave them forever, but it seemed that chapter had been closed. Her purpose was here now and hopefully her family were doing alright back home.
