CAELUM
starborn

A rumble of content slipped from the titan's lips, a soft shudder that ran from his chest to up through his mouth. Honestly, Caelum was as comfortable as he would ever be in his life, white hair falling over his features as he leaned his head and gently bumped dark lips against a halo of bright hair on Somnus' head. "It's morning..." It fell from his lips as he lifted his head, long ears perking forward as stardust clustered around his eyes, and he blinked it away. The same formation of glittering circles over his head seemed to shimmer and move as well whenever his head moved, disturbing the clusters of stars.

They had spent the night together, and as of the moment, Caelum was resting with the other, a large wing draped over the other pegasus as he gazed out the window to the dawn light, the rising sun. The stars were chased away and he was left to mourn them silently, though he knew as always, they would come back once the sun fell back beyond the horizon.

All the same, Caelum's ears flicked and he turned to look back at his companion, a small smile twitching over his lips as he did, his wing shifting just to spill large feathers over the sunkissed man's body. Sun and Moon had met, and really, Caelum was not one to complain, finding a deep seated contentment in having companionship once more. Whether it went further than what they had remained to be seen, but he was enjoying what they had now.

Somnus

It was the touch of dark lips upon the alabaster hairs of his head that roused him, stealing him away from the soothing comfort of his dreams. Sheltered, soothed, Somnus had allowed his tightly composed persona of utmost professionalism to loosen in Caelum’s presence, captivated by his genuine candor and calming presence. Verdant emerald eyes slid open, blinking away the last dredges of sleep, but he had no desire to move. Nestled against the larger side of the starborn prince, the golden tactician was content, sheltered beneath great silken feathers, smaller amber wings tucked close to his sides. “Truly?” He croaked, the lilting of his accent hoarse from sleep. Somnus paused, cleared his throat with a shake of his head, and returned emerald eyes to the larger male in which he shared company. “So it is.”

The evening before they had remained awake long into the night, lost in talk, in debates, discussing everything from politics, the workings of the world, and to their own simple pleasures. It was an innocent affair, but it was for that very innocence that Somnus had found himself drawn irrevocably closer to the mystery that was Caelum. He was truly something else…

The cold winter chill did not reach him, blanketed by the titan’s massive wings, warmed by their shared heat. Caelum was night, Somnus was day, and he couldn’t help but feel as though they revolved around one another. The analytical part of his mind desperately wanted to figure out what it was, this pull, but the other part, the physical part, simply wanted to let whatever this was happen smoothly, and simply enjoy it for what it was. How long since he had been this comfortable and content? How long had it been since he hadn’t awoken in a sheen of sweat spurred by night terrors of screams, blood, and fire, the name of his late-King a forlorn gasp on trembling lips? Caelum chased all of that away, simply by being a proverbial rock for Somnus to lean against, and it was… Well, for the lack of a better term, it was nice.

Dark lips turned up in a smile, emotion swimming in the strategist’s verdant eyes. “Good morning.” Feeling rather bold, he upturned his muzzle and nuzzled into the juncture of the titan’s throatlatch, ever mindful of the horn upon his brow, relishing in his scent, his feel. Whatever was blossoming between them, he had every intention to let it run its course. ”Thank you, for last night. I quite enjoyed it.” And still, laying so close together, he was loathe to pry himself from beneath the starborn’s heavenly wings.
