There was so much to see in this new place. This Novus. She had been wandering for what felt like months, but could not have been anymore than a couple weeks. Too fresh was the ache in her muscles from her run. Fading, but still there. If there was one good thing, in the time she had spent here thus far, Karrin had begun to notice the tell-tale signs of health about her being. At one point a mirror had given her an immediate view of her features, all of which were beginning to fill out into a creature she did not recognize. Though her eyes were still just as black as they were before, the rest of her was not. Her sides had plumped and the fur on her back was starting to lengthen. Perhaps it had to do with the weather? It was surely becoming colder. In fact, Karrin had woken that very morning to frost on the ground and hardly a chill to be felt. No doubt due to the gradual growth of hair and fat on her bones. This was a form she had never experienced before, being so familiar with the thin, bony mare that was Karrin. Even the horn spiraling out of her head felt strangely heavier.

Although icy cold with a windchill that bit at her face, this beach was oddly bare of any physical signs of Winter. The sand glittered like diamonds under a cold, white sun. Each footstep yielded a kaleidoscope of colors as she trekked forward. She could not recall when she came to this particular territory, only that something was drawing her here. Something intangible, unseen, unheard, writhing in the deepest pits of her stomach like a worm. It called in a metaphysical way and Karrin was not one to deny such yearning.

And then-

There it was. It.

A bridge composed of rugged, frosty elements she could not name. Decorated in a natural ivy-lace with white and red berries growing from the leaves. There was a wild, frantic tugging somewhere deep within her. It jerked and yowled, clawing at her chest as a wild beast might its cage. Karrin was utterly terrified. Though even as she stood there that something yet called. It whispered in her ears, sang sweet promises in the depths of her psyche. Like a mother coaxing her child forth, trust me, trust me, it said. Karrin obeyed. Through a stiff-legged stupor she stumbled forward, scattering diamonds in the sunlight. The bridge did not collapse beneath her new-found weight, nor did it groan in complaint. In fact it was completely silent, not a sound to be heard, not even her feet upon the mortar.

Time must have passed differently here, for she was quickly learning how to tell. Or maybe it was because crossing the bridge, which looked no larger or longer than a normal bridge, suddenly seemed to stretch for miles. How long did she walk? Was it hours, or minutes? There was no telling, for as fast as she began to raise questions, she was there. Where? Karrin stared at the mountainous plain laid out before her. Whereas the beach was clean of any snow, here she was nearly knee-deep in it. When did that happen? Why could she not remember? And then she asked, why? It was stunning beyond compare, even for the endless nothing of her memories, she knew. This was unlike anything she had ever seen and the way the snow shone upon the ground was beautiful. Breathtaking. Or was that the cold? Building ice against the walls of her lungs with each deep breath she took.
